what if this show won a tony? what if this show won a tony award?

Leading Actress is going to be a bloodbath in both categories. Audra vs. Cherry and Sutton vs. Idina vs. Jessie vs. Kelli? Bloodbath. (And if Audra wins she breaks two records! Most awards for acting and first to win a Tony in each of the four acting categories.)

A Gentleman's Guide To Love & Murder (7 noms) and Hedwig & The Angry Inch (8 noms) are the big hitters this year...which won't necessarily mean anything come awards night, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them take home a healthy chunk.

If/Then was predictably shut out of everything except leading atress and score. It's not been getting much love. Then again, Lady Day also only got two noms -- leading actress and sound design -- and I would not be surprised if it won both of them.

Celia Keenan-Bolger (The Glass Menagerie) was nominated for featured actress in a play, which was a surprise and a delight; I expected Cherry Jones to be the only cast member from the production recognized. (Brian J. Smith also got a nomination.)

Cabaret got shut out of Best Revival (Musical), which I didn't find surprising; most predictions suspected it would. Hedwig's most likely to win, though Violet's got a reasonable chance.

For Best Musical, my money's on A Gentleman's Guide, but I wouldn't be shocked by an upset.
