At the time, it seemed like a brilliant idea. Harper hadn't seen her parents in ages since their vaudeville act started performing at a Romanian hotel. So when Harper checked Portalocity and found really cheap portals to Sinaia, she couldn't resist. Her mom and dad were going to be so surprised when she turned up!
There was only one flaw in her plan. Harper's parents had neglected to tell her that they got fired and moved on to another job. So Harper was on her own in Romania with no parents to visit and several days to kill before her return portal. At least the scenery was very pretty in the daytime, though Harper was petrified of leaving her room at night. She didn't want to run into any Romanian vampires.
