A week long vacation . . .
Saturday - Parental units came out to Lafayette. Meandered around with them.
Sunday - Slow day with the parental units - last minute planning for Chicago and making our driving plans.
Monday - Drove up to downtown - took US 41 along the lake depositing us on lakeshore dr. and at the Field Museum. Also went to the planetarium and the aquarium that day. the Field was pretty good, the planetarium was a quick and dirty - we only looked at displays no shows, and the Shedd Aquarium was huge. We saw almost everything, including the dolphins, beluga whales, penguins, otters, sharks, and coral reef displays. Drove out to the close suburbs for our hotel.
Tuesday - Drove to the Forest Park station on the Blue Line. Parked the car and took the blue line down to downtown. Went to the Art Insititute of Chicago. Walked to the Hancock Tower and spent time on the 94th floor checking out Chicago and lake Michigan. Dad vetoed Ethiopian food and Mom and I were unwilling to walk 4 mi. to and from the Polish place so I made us go to Wicker Park. Ha ha - I bought a new pair of shoes at the Fluevog store! Went by Akira clothing store but did not go in for fear of annoying the parents. Ate at one of the yummy Thai places on North. took the Blue Line back to the car and went back to the hotel.
Wednesday - Left Chicago (avoided my dad getting trapped in an IPass lane as well) and got stuck in crazy construction and traffic. Came back home and crashed. Went to Chumley's. Ditched the parents to watch the hockey game with Jake and Chuck.
Thursday - Went to Champaign-Urbana to visit Nick for the day. Saw Nick's current lab and whatnot.
Friday - Parental units depart for Ohio and I pass out. Went out later in the day with the usual suspects. Called it an early night.
Today - Set up and find lab supplies for tomorrow when I start my time course experiment. Ugh.
Now, it is 90 degrees and that is tooooooo hot. Blah.
