Wow guys, there are some sick NYCC panels going on this year.
I'm DEFF checking out the MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 panel on Friday night. Like I said in my
Pre-E3 entry I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED FOR MVC3. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. Every time a new teaser or trailer comes out I just get so giddy and stupid - not as giddy as I do for PORTAL 2 teasers, but pretty damn GIDDY. I don't think they'll be able to have as many characters as they did in MVC2 since a lot of time they're tied up in movie rights, legal battles, etc....I was pretty shocked they were able to get Spiderman, but again a Marvel game without Spidey and is like a DC game without Batman or Supes.
Also, the EPIC MICKEY panel on Saturday. I don't even have a Wii but this game is just so interesting and pretty. Warren Spector's work is amazing...but I was a little bummed that it wasn't as dark or deep as the debut in GameInformer made it out to seem. Granted, it's none of that Kingdom Hearts King Mickey Mouse Pure Hearts bullshit, it's Mickey ruining Oswald the Rabbit's world and him having to fix everything with Spector's infamous moral choice system. I really wish this game was not a Wii exclusive because I really think it's going suffer in sales because third party games don't sell on the Wii. I know cross-platform porting is a pain, and I'm sure Nintendo and Disney conjured some sinister alliance for this game on their on-going quest to take over the world...but I fucking hate motion control. I do, it's not immersive if I'm so focused on waggling the damn remote and it's tiring. Maybe they'll come out with a port for the Playstation Move or even Xbox's Kinect...but I don't see that being a likely possibility....anyway it's still cool, and pretty so I'll check it out anyway.
Also, ONI PRESS on Sunday only so I can ask, "WHERE THE FUCK IS THE TRADE FOR BLUE MONDAY: THIEVES LIKE US? YOU SAID IT'D BE OUT THIS YEAR AND IT'S NOT. QUIT PIMPIN SCOTT PILGRIM AND GIVE YOUR OTHER BOOKS SOME LOVE." Although, I'm pretty sure since Chynna's an Assistant Editor at DC now that Blue Monday is in COMIC LIMBO...which is really sad because I've never loved/been inspired but a series as much as that one...sigh...if they have a Q&A I'm so gonna be THAT GUY and ask the question. I will. I want answers, dammit!
Regarding the Marvel and DC panels I think the only one I'm interested in is the Artist Showcase: Drawing DC panel. Everything else I know is going to be on an online podcast/press release/interferes with something else I want to do or check out so it depends on my mood.
Also...how awkward is it that Wildstorm has a few panels? It's like inviting your girlfriend to a party, then breaking up with her right beforehand...but she's on the guest list and supposed to make a toast.
