Alright...there's this kid in my TV writing class...his name is Darren...or Daniel...or Drew..something with a "D" that's not very memorable. He's apparently in my math class as well, and after class last night he met up with me on my way out saying something along the lines of, "Oh hey, you're in TV writing with Davis right? Me too! You like comics? That's cool."
So we're talking and asks me if I'm going to NYCC and I said yea and he asked what day and I told him the whole weekend since I'm going in during press hours to get my badge friday morning and its good all weekend and he goes "Wait...how'd YOU get a press pass?" and i explained my situation with FOX and he does this RUDE FUCKING SCOFF AND SAYS "Oh, so it's not like you're a REAL comic book fan. You're just going in with the press."
And I looked at him and said, "Uh...no I'm actually into comics and I go to NYCC every year, it just so happens the press badge makes it more convenient."
THEN HE SAYS, "Oh well, it's just that not many girls are into comics...like, I'd be surprised if you ever heard of..." and then he trailed off so I went "What?" and he says.
"Nothing, just Brain Michael Bendis....you've probably never heard of him."
"BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" I screamed...and then I proceeded to rip him a new asshole about how he's a retard for even considering I didn't know my shit and that I was just another one of those "I like video games and comic books cause it makes me look cool to guys" girl - WHICH I FUCKING HATE BTW - and he backed off saying, "Woah...I'm sorry...I didn't mean it to be insulting....I'm sorry." Then he was going on about the Comic Code Authority and turned to me like "You know what those are?" and i go "Yeah?" and he just continues "It's the rules and regulations they put on comics back in the day." and i hissed, "I know what they are! I did an entire literary analysis on them when I did a term paper on Stan Lee and the rise of Marvel comics as well as when I did an article for the web on the history of Wonder Woman to commemorate issue #600!" Then he scurried off to go be a socially awkward fucktard somewhere else...
I thought I was done with him...UNTIL TODAY IN TV WRITING. A couple of us were talking about what kind of writing we wanted to get into after we graduate and I mentioned I wanted to possibly get into gaming media and we were talking about video games and then FUCKWAD MC. NOBODY-ASKED-YOUR-OPINON turns around from his socially awkward corner to us and says, "Wow...you mean like an IGN or something?" and i said exactly and he goes, "Yeah, that's gonna be pretty hard, even though you're a girl. They probably wont trust you and stuff."
So as I sit there turning purple, Other Sports Writer boy - his name is Marc and he is a PRINCE - goes "Bro, what the hell are you even sayin' they'll probably hire her over you only BECAUSE she's a chick. It's the same with Sports writing, they want girls to broaden the demo and look good to their higher ups. What the hell is wrong with you?"
Then he turned back to his corner cause I was about to PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE. Marc says he was probably trying to impress me or something by acting tough and to ignore it. JUST..FFTT...I mean, it would've been cool to talk comics and video games to someone but GOD HE WAS JUST SUCH A FUCKING PRICK. GRRR...
