Part 2

It was darkness everywhere. He couldn’t pinpoint where exactly he was. His body was dangling, by invisible thread. His limbs were heavy. He couldn’t move anything aside his head. Yuri was thinking how had he gotten here, when the flashback hit him. That’s right, Yuri glued his gaze at the blackness under his dangling feet. Yuri had remembered the happiness glowing inside Ryosuke’s heart. It was such contagious emotion. Yuri smiled as the foolish face Ryosuke had pulled came from the back of his mind. How innocent. How sincere. And it was the very cause that dragged Yuri away from the supposedly eternal blissful. The life source of a fairy cub who resided in human’s environment came from the dearly, loving soul of one person. Yuri had chosen Yamada Ryosuke. But the feeling was not seem mutual.

By the mention of Daiki’s name, Yuri’s world was crashing down. The flickering warmth Ryosuke used to project was replaced by cold numbness. He thought the Earth had stopped rotating. That the time had stopped running. The pain started from something under his ribcage. It was too fast for him to recognize the initial symptom of heart failure. Then followed by the sudden closure of his airway. He couldn’t breathe. He had looked the horror-stricken face of the human child before he gave up fully to the darkness. Ryosuke called him.

But why?

What else did young Ryosuke need from him?

Yuri had given him everything. The luck of having magical friend. Every day was adventurous for both of them. He cheered upon the human’s uncertainties. He had given up power and more importantly, his life. And now that he faded away, why did Ryosuke made that face? Why couldn’t Ryosuke be happy?

Why did he heart that traitorous sound of heartbeat?

“-ri... Yuri... Yuri...” the voice was volumed up and down like badly tuned radio. Yuri lifted his head and saw nothing but the same darkness. He knew whose voice was that. How that voice penetrated his unconscious state, he had no clue. Yuri tried to move his limbs but they just didn’t obey. Something in Ryosuke’s voice grabbed Yuri’s attention. It was as if Ryosuke was distressed. Yuri wanted to rip the darkness apart then comfort the boy. He fruitlessly squirmed against the invisible hand holding him still. Yuri wanted to break free so badly that it hurt. He whimpered, choking tears that welled up his eyes.

Ryosuke... help me. I’m scared.

Truthfully, Yuri was scared of death. The little fairy was terrified to be forced to fade away. He couldn’t bear the thought of people forgetting him, Ryosuke especially. Humen’s mind, albeit it looks complex, were actually very easy to distract. He didn’t want Ryosuke to move on as much as he hated him grieving. The feeling was rather complicated.

Bad-dump.

There it was again. The sound of a heartbeat.

“Yuri!”

And Ryosuke’s.

Warmth filled his body, starting from his stomach. The weight that restricted his limbs was lifted slowly but sure. His finger twitched as he tried to move. Yuri gasped as he realized what was happening. Magic surged through his body, cutting one by one the invisible rope that tied him up. Light seeped through the darkness, sweeping it off. Yuri’s lashes fluttered open gently. His heart almost stopped twice that day when he found Ryosuke’s huge face was hovering above him.

Err... hello? What just happened?

Yuri whipped his wings. Fairy dust sparkled around him, connecting the two minds of different beings. The next second, Ryosuke was in tears. He picked up Yuri with his hand and pulled Yuri close to his heart. “Yuriii! I thought I lost you!” Ryosuke, the charming-prince-looking guy, wept. Yuri was panic. He hadn’t seen Ryosuke this broken before. Ryosuke was always cool and composed. Then it hit him. The life source of a magical creature as him came from the dearly, loving soul of one certain human child. Ryosuke... Yuri wished he could do something to wipe away that uneasiness like usual.

Just as if God heard his pray, Yuri felt a wave of power stirred in him. So he did what he had to do. He closed his eyes as the power engulfed him. He could feel his limbs stretched and grow rapidly. He heard Ryosuke’s hitched noise. When Yuri opened his eyes, Yuri could now see Ryosuke in the same level. Ryosuke was not as gigantic as he used to see with his tiny fairy body. The shuffling sound behind him notified him that his wings had apparently hit something. “Oh,” Yuri concentrated to hide his wings, and those disappeared in a second. He giggled as Ryosuke was about to faint.

“Hello, Ryo-chan!” Yuri chirped.

Ryosuke was as red as ripped tomato. He was spluttering words but none of them were eloquent. Yuri blinked and realized: he was sitting on the boy’s lap and, of course after the transformation, his mini-sized clothed had torn. Thus, leaving him nude. Yuri blushed furiously, looking down at anywhere but Ryosuke.

the end.
