Poetic Jackals?

Aug 11, 2007 16:40

So yeah, I have, at times, been known to write the occasional poem.  Off and on I would write poems to suit my mood, though more often than not that mood was a bad one, so most of my poems have a leaning towards angst and depression.  I've stopped trying to write about love and such since, well, my last parter never appreciated them, and I've not got someone to write them to currently... well, I might... but I haven't written poetry in so long, I'm not sure I even know how anymore.

Anyway, here's a few samples of poems I've written in the years past.  The first three were written with no real emotion behind them, though may seem a little on the down side.  The fourth is rather depressing, but might make a good song or such.  :P  And the last is, well, dragons.  Mwaha.

Tree Buds

The trees

Under attack by green lumps

I'm told they're called 'buds'

That they'll turn into 'leaves'

I pluck them off and they die

I save the tree!

Wonder...

Did you ever wonder why things go the way they do?

Is it some preset record we follow?

Are we pawns in someone's game?

We play the game called 'Real Life'

Costs may vary, loot is random

Everyone loses

Striving

I strive

I crave

I move

In waves

I strive

to grow

to live

and so

I work

and slave

to wind

up brave

until

the end....

Cold

It's cold outside

The rain bothers me

I can't see

What's right in front of me

My eyes are clear

But my mind is lost

In the midst of madness

Sinking inside of me

I hear you call

But I cannot answer

Lost in my mind

Deeper inside of me

Alone in my mind

I think of you

What you meant to me

What I meant to you

I stay in my mind

Despite desperate plees

To come outside

Outside is too cold...

It's cold outside

I stay inside of me

For I can't see

What's right in front of me

Dragon

Dragon, do you sleep at night?
do you dream of your sad fate?
knight of white does hunt you there.
watch in silence, he is near.

Dragon, can you sleep by day?
knight of white ain't far away.
watch your back or you may die,
early on or late at night.

Dragon, can you stay awake?
Do not sleep or your sad fate
may find you whilst you snore away
any time of night or day.

Dragon, are you still around?
or have you flown to island sound?
knight of white has long since passed.
his death was witnessed by the last...

Dragon, are you still alive?
no one wants to kill you now...
come out from hiding, Dragon brave,
and see the sun in early day.

Dragon, dead as night's clear sky...
dead of sickness, fear... but why?
Fear of death, brave Dragon had,
so hid and died in caverns wide...

Dragon's spirit, it does soar...
knowing now to fear no more...
knight of white sleeps ever more,
Dragon lives in minds of lore.

poetry, poems, writing
