While buck naked and crawling under a motion sensor at five in the morning, I realized something that should be obvious, but that I keep needing to rediscover anyways; life is good if you can relax.
The night started with the most kickass dance party I’ve ever attended. It was rip-roarin’ despite (because?) of it being alcohol free and involving an enthusiastic acapella rendition of Eye of the Tiger sung by yours truly and Dickey-G. The same dynamic duo also stole the show against some stiff competition with many memorable dance moves. I expect to the David High Step on dancefloors across the world.
Four or five hours later, I met back up with David and two of his friends. We came to the inevitable conclusion to break into the Pomona pool and going for a dip- naked and sober. After scaling a wall and avoiding infra-red motion detectors, we jumped in. Damn, swimming naked feels good. Then, some guy none of us had ever met walked by and asked if he could join us. Naturally, we invited the strange man to get naked with us. Some how David’s friends (who are of the awesome) and the strange guy realized they all spoke fluent Nepali. Swimming naked in early February listening to conversational Nepali has got to be one of the most surreal experiences to date. We then went back to this guy’s dormroom, which he turned into a combo Buddhist Nepalese Sanctuary and Pot Palace. Dozens of lamps, tapestries, flags, pillows, masks, and bongs adorned his incredibly comfortable room. After basking in the good aura of his room, we went to bed- relaxed and happy.
