God that sucks... I had to pay some this year too due to a wank up with Social Security. Turns out that if you make over a certain amount, they tax your non taxable income. Nice to knwo that huh? And they dont tell you of course until they send you the tax info.

Gahhh! That sucks! *hugs* I hope you weren't hit too hard and that things work out for you with them. I made payment arrangements today over the phone. The lady who answered was very nice and helpful and helped set me up on a payment program I could afford and is sending out forms to have it electronically deducted from my checking.

I hate doing that, but it halves the cost. I'll just have to make sure not to accidentally spend the tax money on something unimportant like rent, electricity or eating. :D

I got hit hard like that not once, but twice. I'm finally getting out from under the debt this year. I just trusted the accountants to do their job, and got monumentally screwed. I know how you feel. I actually did cry when it happened to me. :(

Yeah, I cried too. I'm relatively low income, which is okay, I've more than learned to make ends meet by sharing rent with one of the daughters and cutting corners and meals when I need to. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you've been through this twice!!! O__o Omg, I think I would pull out my hair, scream and most likely go fetal (all of which closely happened this weekend). *huggles*

Your woes are very familiar to me. There's nothing fair or fun about dealing with the IRS. Hang in there, and may it be as painless as possible.

Ah, sorry to hear that you've come up against them before, too. :( And thank-you for commenting. It's comforting to know that I am not alone in my frustrations at this. *hugs*

Any chance that Economic Stimulus thingie that we all are supposed to get will help you pay some things off? Even with no dependents, just filing single I believe you will still get about $600, as long as you filed a 1040 or 1040A, not and EZ.... At least it will be in the "better than nothing" category, right? ^_^

I filed the EZ :< Being relatively low income, single and make too much for the EIC, I was told to use the EZ. Does that mean I don't qualify for the stimulus package? I thought as long as I filed a tax return, I would qualify?

I talked to a lady at the IRS today who told me that they would offset roughly $300 (I guess I'm not a $600 kind of gal ~__^) from the stimulus package against the debt I owe.

I made payment arrangements with them today... I couldn't trust myself to come up with $800+ in four months.

The state line keeps ringing busy though, but I filed for an extension with them, so maybe... I can come up with the $600 for them inside of 6 months.

Shall be interesting to try. O__o;

I hate taxes... I hate everything to do with them... My understanding from the thing they sent out (which was BARELY comprehensible) was that you had to file a 1040A for them to send you the Stimulus thing. I suppose in an bass-ackwards way, maybe it's a good thing this happened this year if it had to happen to you - at least you have that $300 covered from the stimulus package that you wouldn't have had otherwise, and would apparently have missed having any benefit from it at all otherwise, since you normally filed EZ. I guess that's a bit of a stretch to find anything good in this situation... sort of reminds me of one of my dad's old expressions from his country upbringing, "it beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick." (He had a lot of those, and I say them now out of habit and people kind of look at me like I have lost my mind. LOL )

LoL. My dad had the same saying as well. Although my fave two were 'knee high to a grasshopper' and 'if wishes were fishes then frogs wouldn't bump their tails on the ground when they hopped.' :D
