spent most of the day yesterday driving around Alabama with Barclay. we made it to Talladega to see the last 40 or so laps of the race, and that was enough for me. i don't really see how anyone could sit through nearly 200 laps, but i obviously must not understand Nascar fans. after the race we sat in traffic for a long time, but not nearly as long as we did on Sunday.

we stopped in Birmingham to see my grandmother in the hospital, where i was enlightened once again. we sat there listening to her for a few hours and she seemed to be doing well (i think she's back at her nursing home by now). then we went back to Tuscaloosa.

i thought this was supposed to be Dead Week...and it's turning out to be everything but what the name implies. i have a 5 page research paper due tomorrow as well as a reading response and extra credit assignment due on thursday. then, i should really start to study for my History exam, seeing as how my final grade is really depending on it.

i ran into Shannon on my way back to Rose today, and she said that the Riverside people wanted to throw a going-away party for her (and i think she meant me too) before she goes off to William & Mary. i guess it's just nice to know that there are other people sharing my same transfer experience.

i'm not expecting to hear from my other schools in the next week, so it looks like i'm probably going to end up at Vanderbilt, which is perfectly fine with me.

my mom, sister, and uncle didn't go to work yesterday, and they all participated in the latino rallies (my sister and uncle in Chicago, and my mom in Nashville). i was surprised to hear about the number of people who attended those marches, and it really assured me that some sort of reform is on its way.

wow, not even two weeks left of school. it's a bit of a drag, you know?
