Synopsis: YooChun is afraid of dogs until he meets Colleen.
A/N: A friend of mine told me that somewhere in o4, four of the members want to have a dog of their own but didn't because YooChun was afraid of them (of course, not for long). I don't know how accurate that was but hell, I thought this will be good for an entry. I included Colleen because she's permanently JunSu's dog in Romancier (as how she was in Beautiful You and how SaRang will always remain as JunSu's sister - just to say, you'll read more of them here), which means JunSu and I share a dog. Damn....I just love fan fictions. Enjoy reading!
The first time YooChun meets Colleen, he's absolutely terrified. JunSu insists that Colleen is a good dog and loves people but being absolutely horrified by the canine, YooChun quotes the number of dog related attacks per year, and even if it's a fairly small number, it's big enough to send YooChun into a corner when Colleen starts barking at him. It shouldn't be funny, not really but that didn't stop JunSu from laughing at the scene as he pulls Colleen away.
"She's just a dog, YooChun, a people dog might I add and you should look at yourself....already searching for the nearest exit"
YooChun didn't find it funny, which only makes JunSu laugh harder when the older male says he's never coming back to JunSu's house ever again.

And apparently he has to break his own promise once they started dating. For three months YooChun had managed to stay away from the 'four-legged demon from Hell' by having JunSu come over to his apartment. But JunSu isn't stupid, and has bigger bed anyway, so after a lot of convincing, pleading and bribery, YooChun agrees.
This time doesn't start nearly as bad as the last, mainly because Colleen is a sleep when JunSu and YooChun walk through the door. YooChun was able to relax, all the while looking at Colleen sleeping in the corner of the room, so he's not worried about any blitz attack. They sit together on JunSu's couch, watching movies they rented with volumes been turned off, the music forgotten, and any space between them is non-existent. They cuddled together alternating between soft slow kisses and hushed conversation.
They’re so wrapped up in each other that neither notice Colleen’s sudden awakening. In fact, neither even remembers she is there until she makes her presence known by jumping on JunSu and welcoming him home. YooChun still relaxed from JunSu’s earlier attention, but he does tense up at Colleen’s occurrence and even managed a laugh at JunSu's reaction.
JunSu was laughing as well, use to Colleen’s reactions after almost every single time he comes back from work. But he does notice YooChun’s eyebrow go up and a smirk appears on his face when he asks Colleen if she missed her daddy.
YooChun was about to say something when Colleen stopped licking JunSu's face and turned her attention to him. She began slowly crawling toward YooChun and JunSu could see his boyfriend's chest rise and fall a little bit harder.
"JunSu" YooChun said, his voice raising a couple octaves. "Your dog is sniffing me"
"It's fine Chun, she’s just getting use to you"
"Please, she probably thinks I’m trespassing or something and she’s just waiting for an opportunity to attack. And it’s not funny, stop laughing"
"Relax, I’ll put her out for now, so you don’t have to worry about her trying to rip your face off"
"It could happen!"
It isn’t until JunSu has put the reluctant Colleen outside for the night that YooChun finds his voice again.
"Daddy?"

After that YooChun spent more time at JunSu's, but not much more with Colleen. Every time he's over, he insists JunSu to keep Colleen anywhere but in the same room as they were in, convinced that the dog was glaring and trying to kill him. That is until, one fine morning when he woke up alone in JunSu's bed with nothing but a cold body and a post it note.
Chun baby,
Off to office, a couple about to kill each other at the lobby and it happen to be ChangMin's client but that boy was stuck with another family drama. I was going to wake you but figured you'd need all the sleep you could get after last night.
I should be back by noon and could you fill Colleen’s bowl while you’re at it? Don’t worry, I promise she won’t try to kill you if you’re holding her bag of food.
PS: She's not ChangMin.
Love you, JunSu.
It takes YooChun a good two minutes to stop kitten-growling at the note. Finally having resigned himself of having to deal what is no doubt waiting for him down stairs, YooChun gets out of bed.
He’s finally made his way to the kitchen, and is relieved when it’s empty. He spends a few minutes rummaging through cupboards for the bag of dog food he knows JunSu has it somewhere. When he finally pulls the bag out from under the sink, he’s greeted by Colleen staring at him with what one might call a confused expression.
YooChun slowly makes his way towards the dog bowl and manages to fill it up with food while Colleen watches him intently. After several painfully long seconds, Colleen walks over to the bowl and sniffs the food. She looks back up at YooChun, and eats her food. YooChun isn’t quite sure exactly how it happened, but he’s almost positive he’s been dismissed.
"Fine, be that way. I’ve always like mine with milk anyway"
When JunSu comes home a little over two hours later, he sees something he never expected to. YooChun is sitting on the couch watching a TV program, and Colleen is watching it with him, while lying across his lap. He’s almost afraid to ask, but he does anyway.
"Oh, hey. Yeah, Colleen and I had a conversation and we’ve reached an understanding. I’m not trying to take away any of her territory or her daddy, and she’s not going to kill me in my sleep"
There has never been a conversation that JunSu has wanted to hear more than that one.

If before JunSu was trying his best to make them bond, he is really starting to regret now, because for the first time he feels Colleen is ignoring his existence and to top it all of, even his own boyfriend. It has been two weeks since he found them bonding on the couch and since then YooChun had found an audience for every of his complaints. Colleen spends every moment that they're home and seems to find it interesting to know more about her daddy's bad habits.
"Are you coming up to bed anytime soon, or are you still trying to make my dog hate me?" JunSu asks when he sees YooChun in the living room with Colleen.
"First of all, she doesn't hate you even if I tried. Secondly, I’ll have you know Colleen is very intelligent for her species. She seems to know more about you than me but we tend to share that. And thirdly, you do not have to try and compete for my attention with a dog"
"I am not trying to compete for your attention"
"Oh really? Then why are you naked?"

JunSu and YooChun have been dating for a year and in that time YooChun’s spent more time with Colleen than he never thought he’d be able to spend with a dog. At the moment, he’s going to JunSu’s house from the hospital, where JunSu's remain is set to be released tomorrow. ChangMin had told him that they had been on a particularly hard rage divorce case, and JunSu had thrown himself in front of a woman to save her from being shot. The bullet having, through no small miracle, hit his major arteries, and....he just stop breathing.
When YooChun enters the house, he’s greeted by Colleen jumping on him and licking his face like she usually does. After a few minutes she stops and looks around for JunSu. All YooChun can do is pat Colleen on the head, with the confused expression he’s seen a few times on the dog’s face staring at him, and goes up stairs. Colleen follows him the whole way, and joins YooChun on the bed when he collapses there. Colleen moves her head onto YooChun’s chest and looks up at him. He slowly pats her and brings the dog up into what is best described as a hug. He buries his face in Colleen’s fur and lets loose the tears he’s been holding in. The tears of despair, the tears of fear and anger, and the tears of doom when he heard the doctor said, "I'm sorry".
Nevertheless, he’s never been more grateful for the bond he’s grown with the dog in the last few months than he is at that moment. When he’s all out of tears, he lifts his face away from Colleen and pats her again.
"It’s going to be okay, I'll take care of you from now onwards. It’s going to be okay"
And somehow, he’s almost positive that Colleen understands.
