Book Description:
Mercy Thompson's life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.(bn.com)

What did you think of the book?
I really enjoyed it. Despite the fact that I heart vamps and they are pretty much evil in this book, I liked it. I was intrigued by the goodness of all the preternatural beings is ambiguous. It kind of reminds me of the first few Anita Blake books...where she can't trust anyone because they're all monsters. Mercy is not much like Anita Blake, though (thank goodness!).

I love that she's a very down to earth person, and her relationship with Adam, the local Alpha, is hilarious and touching, by turns. Jesse, Adam's daughter, is adorable. Briggs made certain she fit the teenage mold, with a few quirks that come from having a werewolf father.

I hope that Warren makes more appearances in the following books...along with Kyle.

The one thing I can say is that I kinda figured out who was doing the kidnapping and experimentation. Despite the fact that it was pretty obvious to me, I did second guess myself from time to time.

I also can't wait to see where this love triangle between Adam, Mercy, and Samuel. Personally, I'm a fan of Adam myself...and it seems like Mercy is too. She just needs to get over the whole "first love" thing and realize that Samuel is all wrong for her. :)

Would you recommend this book?
Sure would. It's actually pretty clean...a little violent, but what can you expect with vampires and werewolves? Of course, I can't say what will happen if things heat up between Mercy and either of her two wolves in the coming books. We shall see.
