Holiday Musings on a Cold Saturday Evening
• I'm so glad I decided not to go shopping on Black Friday. I was able to catch up with sleep and make a significant dent in my holiday card list. I finished 25 and I have about 100 more to go; more if my mom asks me to help her with her card list. Don't get me wrong, I love writing cards and sending out mail. • I did go shopping today. O_O And it was pretty stressful fighting the crowds. I wasn't planning to go, but I told one of my friends that I would watch her two daughters (ages six and eight) while she wrapped presents and took care of holiday things. They wanted to go to the mall and once we got there, we of course had to stop and take pictures with Santa. They insisted that I have a picture taken as well. I felt really ridiculous balancing on "Santa's" knee, but he was a good sport. I didn't know what to ask for when he asked me what I wanted for Christmas, so I said the first thing that came to mind-the Order of Phoenix mask set from the Noble collection. He then asked me if I liked Harry Potter and we had a short, but interesting discussion about Deathly Hallows. I also have a nice souvenir picture.
• At Macy's, I saw a child splash her smoothie on a rack of clothing. Her mother picked up one of the soiled garments and wiped her daughter's orange smoothie-slicked hands and face with it. When employees confronted her about the damage, so didn't want to accept responsibility. O_o They were still arguing when I left.
