2 different storm fronts came thundering thru last night. The first was just before 2 am. It slowly woke me out of my 2 melatonin tablet sleep (taken at midnight). I almost managed to keep from being joined by the children. 30 minutes into it, a loud enough boom caused first Sam, then Ginny, and finally Natalie to come running to take over Mommy's bed. This lasted until around 3 am when I put them all back to bed. Then just 2 hourrs later another loud storm came barreling thru. The kids showed up earlier this time, within 15 minutes of the fist boom. At 6:15, 30 minutes after my alarm went off, we dragged ourselves out of bed. I am a very tired mommy today. The plus side of the storm is that it is much cooler out today. It should feel nice for a few days before we are pummelled by the 99+ degree weather again.
Ginny begins kindergarden on Monday. On Thursday we went to the school to finalize paperwork and meet the teacher. She is very nice. Her name is Mrs. Benitoa. She will actually know one little boy in class so I think she will have a great time. She is so excited.
And while Chris assures me that god does not hate me, I believe he/she does. Labor Day weekend a convention that I would give anything to be able to attend is happening in Phoenix. It is the first ever North American Discworld convention and Terry Pratchett himself will be there (along with some other authors that I would love to see). There is no way at all for me to attend. I have accepted this but still don't like it. Then today, in a full page ad in the Dallas Morning News, there was an ad for a Star Wars symphony concert at the new Cowboys stadium. On our 10th anniversary. That Chris can't come home for. Someone somewhere is snickering at me and I do not like it. He is coming home for Labor Day weekend, then for Ginny's 6th bday (first weekend of October) and for his sister's wedding (first weekend of November). No way we can afford to do all 3 of those things in one month. I didn't even bother to check on ticket prices. It doesn't matter.
sigh
Well, I need to get the kids dressed. All week we have been preparing for school by getting up and getting dressed to be ready to go by 7:15 am. Not today. But the day must go on, wet or not. Have a few things I want to look for at JCPenney. TX has their tax free weekend starting today. Doesn't save much ($8 on $100) but Penney's has some nice coupons. Figure if I go this morning I can avoid the crush this weekend.
