I met with Karl in the studio today and it was awesome. He isnt just recording my work, he's actually teaching me everything from how to work the soundboards to sampling and is introducing me to all sorts of hiphop, blues and jazz. He showed me an a song he did where he sampled a classical song and put hiphop beats behind it, than he freestyled for me. do i even have to say ow awesome it was?. besides that, he put me at ease by just being really laid back and letting be creative with the songs i recorded. i did a little hiphop/blues and some classical tracks. right now we're working on writing music for a photographer thats having a huge exhibit in NL. And a charity drive in july.
i shouldn't get too excited, what if he ditches me? i was telling neil, ive never met anyone that easy to work with musically. everyone ive ever tried to play with either really sucked, invited me to play with no direction of what they wanted, or was a music nazi. I remember 2 girls from East lyme had me come play for them and they were really nice but they didnt know what they wanted out of me. I also tried to play for the quiet life, but it was just ryan and joe, so there was no guitars and no direction and it was just bad for everyone and embarrassing for me. im so freaking music shy. i think i even lost a cord somewhere during the badness. but karl was just like "this is what i do, this is what kind of sound im interested in...do you liek it and can you do it?".
wish me the best of luck,
chelsea
