Bali Day 2

Feb 22, 2013 23:59

on the 2nd day of our trip here...
started up with some continental breakfast provided by the villa

simple loaf of bread with some butter, marmalade and jam

and with another type of bread...
they just wanna fill our stomach...
and with only 4 butter ??? hmmmm honestly one is not enough for me

surprisingly YM also said it was not enough for him as he needs 2 for a piece of bread
hahaha high 5...

they provided fruits as well and the minute i saw them..
i knew that was all joanne was gonna eat... (and true enough)

SJ looking all bright and sunny ahha

left over cigar YM had the night before
about RM160 per stick...
he says it's healthy....

so is a 3rd helping of bread hahaha....

at least its a lot more healthier hehehe...

YM threw the empty butter box and 2 sugar packs to SJ's table haha...
(sugar he used for his tea)
what's more funny is that SJ didnt drink coffee or tea
girl friend joanne as usual had her coffee or tea without sugar =P

tiger shirt wanna look cool with cigar

and then set off for our day trip

the outside of the villa

bye villa alex... for now..

view from the taxi...
we hired a day taxi from a friend who recommended for RM132 a day
which comes to RM33 per person....
it's not bad since we traveded to ubud (about 1 hour drive)

so for an hour... enjoy the view from the window

the taxi guy was kinda good and chatty too
good cause he knows english
and he says that magic mushroom is very nice
but we have to do it in the room and not go out
else you'd end up doing stupid things outside haha

we've arrived at our first stop
a large painting shop...

i really loved this one... because of its colours

we picked a few paintings we liked but said we would think about it
and come back after lunch
(we didnt because we end up buying a lot from the next shop and was lazy to come back here)

for lunch we went for the famous babi guling at this famous place
(babi = pig = pork)

2 story building..

filled with pig statues

oh poor piggy =(

hot day requires coconut
the coconut is so huge , neither of us could finish it
even though we shared

we ordered the popular mix of pig
that comes with the soup

nice blend of everything together...
enjoyed the pig skin so i ordered an additional plate of it
because they ran out of fried pork which i enjoyed even more

yumyumyumyum

full full full

bye babi guling

who knows, we might meet again

continued our journey to the next destination

this place has more painting of my choice...
i ended up buying the blue one on the right and the red one on the left
along with a couple other paintings...
we actually took 2 hours in this shop to choose and bargain !
impressed with YM's tactics... haha he has some serious skill...
even the shop owner asked him to work there haha..

we used ringgit to pay for our paintings because we didnt have enough indo money
and even if we finished our indo money, we need to find money exchange...
how we brought these back... they removed the frames and roll our paintings
this way we can check in (remember to wrap it)..
because checking in the whole painting is just dangerous
imagine how they would throw your languages on the fragile painting

on our way to the famous ubud streets for shopping
monkey street 67, ubud cinyar
lots of monkey statues because we're near the monkey jungle

first stop...

gelato !!!

few things to complain... the spoon is so damn TINY !!!
can hardly scoop anything !
and they only give u 3 flavours to test on that super tiny spoon...
which they scooped like a tiny dot on it
idiotsssss.... i ended up getting a flavour i didnt like that much
because i couldnt taste it properly on the tester spoon -____________-

window shopping...

art gallery

monkey statues made from coconut

some restaurant with nice entrance

walked in a bookshop... looks like it's targeted for tourist cause everything is in english
and was tempted to get this book...
but then didnt feel like throwing away RM50 for simple drawing of animals

wanted to get this novel too...
but then didnt feel like spending on a book with no discount
plus i dont think i have time to read it for the next few months..

saw this zebra painting and fell in love with it !
thanks to YM who helped me bargain.. got it for RM99..
love the dotted texture on it

greens on the wall... people leave their names there...
by the time we were done with the street.. it was 6pm

time for us to get early dinner...
another famous place... bebek bengkil, known as dirty duck

the entrance

where we sat...

which was beside this nice pond

the view of the pond from where i sat at the table

love the coconut.. goes really well with the lime they throw in

this place is famous for their crispy fried duck
however most reviews about this place, ask that you do not put too much hope on it haha..
and they did warn that the duck may be a little hard and dry..
which it was a little but i still enjoyed it
it's also small in portion... and i just realised i dont have a photo of it..
ah i remember.. it was so small and sad looking.. so i didnt a picture of it

we ordered some other dishes (cant really remember cause we just picked based on our feeling)

the gado gado vegetables were good.. we all agreed on that

yumyumyum

and the ribs were highly recommended on many blogs that we read
i felts it was okay... not super great but it wasnt bad either...

we finished with a cake.... there were 2 choices..
one with liquor and one without...
and we all regretted getting this one cause it was too strong for our liking

nice environment... this is the better branch, the quieter one though with less tourist

Bebek Bengil Restaurant
(Dirty Duck Diner)
Address: Padang Tegal, Ubud.

then we head on to a local market which sells everything
they even sold paintings at a super cheap price...
so i bought a couple more
and i bought a nice scarf for mom too

went back and hit the pool !

in the rain

SJ was lazy to swim
he said he was lazy and it was cold.. etc etc
we asked if he wanted YM to throw him into the pool again... hahaha
we manage to persuade him to come in by himself haha...

SJ says he is cold.... i wonder WHYYYYY
ahhahaa

frog style

basketball style

i dont know what style this is...

SJ heating himself...
well is because you keep coming out of the water !

we basicly hung around the living room area... went in and out of the water..
joanne and YM had wine... YM had his cigar too..
SJ and i snacked on chips... there was one i love !
(wish i bought more and brought them back home here.. but i couldnt find it at the airport too sigh)

holiday, bali
