Should I be surprised anymore?

Now I love British shows, but what is it with the continual racist portrayals of East Asians on their programs? This time it was the one-off sitcom "Hacks" featuring that oh so favorite of stereotypes: the crazy dragon lady. She so crazy! She only live to serve her husband! She make monkey-brain drinks! She break into karate chop during committee hearing! She speak in funny accent!

and various other nauseating actions.

Is it because of the colonial past? Is it because there's just not enough East Asians living in Britain? I don't get it.

(Incidentally the satire wasn't very good either. The points they were trying to make were way too clunky, and the villain gets a laughably contrived "redemption" tacked onto the ending.)

ETA: Oh yeah, and the name they gave her? Ho Chi Mao. Give me a fucking break.
