If there's one thing Georgie has never understood, that's how innocent girls ever manage to get laid and not crushed. She doesn't mind the crushing, she's done it herself, and she supposes those girls eventually realize they were being lied to and are pissed off instead of hurt, but she can't wrap her head around how they even manage to get that far if it's not thanks to assholes.
She's experiencing it herself at the moment, and she's none the less bewildered.
"So, you remember Rob, right? My sister's friend?" Vanessa starts, and Georgie looks up, wide eyes like she's interested. Georgie doesn't trust this. "He has an art show opening tonight, and I was thinking maybe we could go." Georgie really doesn't trust Vanessa. Either she's completely dumb, Nate is a horrible actor, or there's something going on that neither Dan nor Georgie are in on.
"Sure," Dan agrees for them, and Georgie holds his arm a little more tightly and smiles sweetly at him. He twines their fingers together, and Georgie thinks she may just throw up.
"I mean, if you don't have any plans or anything," Vanessa adds, and Georgie wishes she could see the smallest amount of evil in her gesture, but she can't, and Dan's not dumb enough to believe that one if he doesn't see it first. Probably.
"Actually," Georgie starts, but Dan looks at her and squeezes her hand and she can't come up with anything at all, "I'd love to go. What time?"
And then she zones out, because Dan will confirm it about fifty times between breakfast and whatever time he's supposed to pick her up, and Georgie wonders how much of a chance there is for her to show up at Dan's apartment earlier and heat things up enough that he'll forget the damn event altogether.
No, she doesn't have a lot of faith in that plan either.
Maybe he's gay and Georgie's saving Serena the heartache of it all. There's probably more of a chance for that.
(And if all of this is about getting rid of Dan, that will probably go down better with Serena, as far as Georgie's concerned. So she's not ruling it out.)
