From lucia_tanaka. Basically, post a lyrics from your favorite song and I'll give you five questions. She gave me these ages ago, but I've been busy...

1. What is the appeal of baseball, in twenty words or less?
The emotional ride baseball takes you on. The thrill of winning. Watching my boys play their heart out. Tight pants.

It was hard to put it into twenty words, but that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

2. What is your favorite movie?
I just saw "Iron Man" and love it a lot, so that my favorite current movie. As for all time, it would be "The Wizard of Oz." I've seen it more times than should be possible, but it's so nostalgic for me. I'd also include anything Pixar and "Kiki's Delivery Service."

3. I am assuming from your username you were once a fan of anime/manga. What was your favorite?
I actually still am a huge fan of anime and manga, though my username comes from J-pop fandom (Ayumi Hamasaki's song "Hana" from her "A Song for Xx" album).

My favorite anime ever would be "FullMetal Alchemist." It kinda runs my life! I don't really talk about it much because the anime ended ages ago and I haven't followed the manga in a year and a half, but it's something I always think of. I love the perfect mix of comedy, drama, and action. I love the strong female characters who don't wear pointlessly skimpy clothes (yes, Winry's tube top has a purpose!). I love the use of philosophy in it. It's not perfect- the science is a little off, there could have been less filler so they had more time to do the ending and not rush what would have been otherwise brilliant, and the movie sucked major ass. But even with all those flaws, it's still my most favorite anime.

4. Similarly, what anime/manga was totally overrated?
I thought "Princess Mononoke" was boring. The art was lovely and the message was good, but Miyazaki is better with less serious films. I love his more whimsical, happy works, but "Princess Mononoke" was a little too dark and suffered for it. Not to say serious works can't be good, Miyazaki is just not that good at them.

5. You have found a knock-off Aladdin's lamp with a knock-off genie who'll only grant one wish. What is your wish?
To have the motivation of a shonen manga character. I'm talented and young and could reach my goals, but I lack motivation.

1863_project and I will be going to AnimeNEXT and cosplaying Abe and Mihashi from baseball anime "Ookiku Furikabutte" aka "Oofuri". I'll be there all three days, and Steph will be there Friday and Saturday. Anybody on my flist going? If you see us, say "hi!"

Tim Russert= :( I was watching some of the service for him on television yesterday, and it was just so upsetting. When I first heard about it on MSNBC, I teared up. Not long before his death, I had used some clips from "Meet the Press" to convince my mother to vote from Obama instead of not voiting at all. It'll be weird to have this campaign without him...

On a happier note, the Mets actually won a game last night! Oh wait, their manager got fired...ugh. I really hate Minaya now. I swear, he needs to be fired. I was late to the "Fire Willie!" bandwagon, and was never truly on it, but I've been wanting Omar gone for awhile. Willie was trying to do his best with a bunch of old guys, hired by Minaya. All the teams succeeding now are pretty young. They traded a lot of their top prospects, which was totally stupid. Um, didn't they watch the World Series? The team that won was full of people brought up through their farm system. The Mets management needs to look around and see what other teams are doing that make them successful.

On a more positive note, here is a picture of their sexy shortstop:

meme, fullmetal alchemist, cosplay, news, tim russert, animenext, baseball, politics, anime, hayao miyazaki, new york mets, ookiku furikabutte, msnbc, josé reyes, conventions
