First off, 1863_project wrote me an amazing fic involving two of her (amazingly slashy) original characters. It's here. She's a great writer-very funny and cute, but not too over the top. She's very influenced by British humour like Monty Python and Peter Cook as well. AND SHE WROTE IT FOR MEEEEE!! *still can't get over that*

Okay, so I got two memes to do. First one, from usagiko.

Comment on this post. I will choose 6 interests from your profile and you will explain what each of them means (and why you're interested in them). If you comment and don't want to do it, just let me know.

1. Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a long-running British sci-fi show about an alien (known as just "The Doctor") who travels through time and space. I love DW because it's so weird. For instance, when the Doctor dies, he just regenerates into a new body! And Daleks!! They're the Doctor's mortal enemy, and they like to exterminate things, scream about how they like to exterminate things, and think about exterminating things. Honestly, Daleks are the best part of DW. Every time they appear, DW suddenly gets even crackier (if that's even possible/a word). And that's a picture of a Dalek up there.

2. Aya
An awesome Japanese rock singer. I've posted one her songs on my letter meme, and since I got another, I'll be posting another one of her songs below. Anyways, I love her powerful sound-she's got a really great rock voice, and she sings with this bad ass attitude. And it doesn't hurt that the guitar riffs in her songs are amazing. If anyone is interested, I'll post up some of her albums!

3. Anderson Cooper
You must be living under a rock on Mars if you don't know who Anderson Cooper is. Anyways, he's the (very pretty) face of CNN. I love how he reports the news with empathy when it's serious, or with humour when the story calls for it. Andy is all about journalistic integrity, and he delivers it, being caring without seeming like he's pushing a political view. And he is a sexy, rich gay man.

4. Superbad
The new Judd Apatow movie, about two boys, Seth and Evan, who want to get laid over the summer. The premise seems very "American Pie", and the movie follows in that suit (from what I've heard-I've never actually seen "American Pie"). Seth and Evan may be horny teenage boys, but they are also very sweet, which makes this film a lot different that a log the the dirty male-oriented comedy out these days. And I can't stop quoting it, especially McLovin and the cops! I have to go see it again now...

5. Strangers With Candy
A funny TV series and movie about a forty year old ex-convict who goes back to high school. It's a parody of seventies after school specials, and it's funny as hell. I admit, I've only seen the movie, but I'm ordering the TV series on DVD so I'll be able to watch it soon. First off, this series has the ever-popular Stephen Colbert in it, which is the reason I got into it. But the protagonist is Jerri Blank, who is hilariously portrayed by Amy Sedaris, who makes some of the weirdest, funniest facial expressions I've ever seen. This series is just weird as hell! And as a bonus for slash fangirls, Stephen and Paul Dinello portray a dysfunctional gay couple.

6. RPS
Real Person Slash, or slashing actors, musicians, news people, and other non-fictional people. My main RPS fandom is clearly Pundit RPS, which is one of the most crackish, awesome fandoms I've ever been in. I didn't even know there were others who thought Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert were made for each other! xD I like actorfic for some of my fictional fandoms too. As mentioned in an earlier post, Zach Braff and Donald Faison are just as slashy as their Scrubs characters (just click the link for video proof! xD), and anyone who has seen High School Musical:The Concert and their baseball commercial knows Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu are so a couple! :P

The second meme is a song one. My letter was "B", which was challenging because I have fifty-eight songs on my hard drive that start with a "B", a lot of them really good. But I narrowed it down and got this list-

1. "Bet On It" by Zac Efron I've previously talked about this song, or to better put it, the scene in High School Musical 2 including this song. It needs to be seen to truly enjoy this song for the crack it is-

Wow, Zefron, wow. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY. Anyways, hte song itself is pretty good. It's very similar to "Eye of the Tiger", only more modern. I know it sound like a terrible song from that description, but it's actually a pretty good song-very catchy, and Zac's a pretty good singer (though he was better in "Hairspray").

2. "Blue Butterfly" by Aya If the opening guitar riff doesn't make you fall in love with Aya, nothing else will. Well, actually, if you don't love this song, nothing else will make you love Aya. But the opening guitar riff is just that good. It's beautiful and edgy without being cliched, which is hard to get. The whole song is amazing-she really plays around with her voice in the verses, and they really show off her fluency (or at least amazing pronunciation) of English. The chorus is strong, sexy, and raw, with Aya singing "Tell me, tell me when you're gonna die/Sweet blue butterfly". This song is one of the most amazing songs every recorded. Every time I hear it, it feels even more powerful and amazing. YOU MUST LISTEN TO IT AND LOVE IT OR I WILL HATE YOU. Okay, just kidding, but you get my drift...

3. "Body Feels EXIT" by Namie Amuro Namie Amuro before she brought hip-hop to the Japanese masses and become the Queen of Hip-Pop. This is her first solo single, a fun, sexy eurobeat track. It's a dance track, but it doesn't get repetitive or boring like many do. The beat has a very dark, anxious feel to it, and Namie's vocal just make the feeling grow. It's about love, but instead of a very calm, peaceful love, this one is anxious, confused love. This song feels like standing out in a thunderstorm, declaring your love.

4. "Bye My Boy" by the brilliant green I had no BuriGuri on any of these list yet, despite them being amazing. This song isn't one of their best, but it's a fun, pretty song, and the chorus is really catchy. BuriGuri is a great group-they are hard to categorize. They're pop-rock, but there aren't particularly loud or obnoxious, but they aren't quiet. They write some of the prettiest, catchiest melodies out there, and they love to play around with their sound, while staying recognizable. I know this isn't a great description, but it's a really good song-trust me!

5. "baby beautiful" by Aiha Higurashi More Aiha! ^^ I love Aiha's voice against the simple, ticking guitar in the beginning of this song. She sings very breathy, and it sounds very sexy and European. The guitars get slightly more complex throughout in the song, but they stay simple and pretty. This song is very simple and she repeats the same melody a lot, but she changes her inflections every time so it's not repetitive.

6. "Brand New Wave Upper Ground" by Judy and Mary I love this song! The distorted guitars throughout and Yuki's unique, nasally voice show off how strange this group can be. The song is great though, with great hooks and the fun, old school feel. I adore Yuki's voice-it's nasally, weird, loud, and completely hers. She actually has a pretty powerful voice, and it's in full effect throughout this song. That, with the weird guitars throughout, make this song feel very fun and almost sixties-ish. I can imagine peace signs and rainbows when I hear this song!

7. "BLOWING OUT" by Mika Nakashima One of the few awesome songs from Mika Nakashima's turn as Nana Osaki in the live-action version of the manga "NANA". Overall, Anna Tsuchiya did better in the anime, but Mika Nakashima didn't do too badly, especially since she's mostly a jazz-pop singer. The chorus to this song is particularly great. It's really catchy and rocking. The whole song is a lot of fun, and feels a bit like one of the "NANA" songs that Anna would do.

8. "Baby Love Child" by Pizzicato Five Not only was there no BuriGuri, but there was no P5! I adore this song-it's really weird and pretty and dreamy. It's all about teenage hippie love, as shown by the psychedelic feel to this song, and the Nah-nah-nah-I-can't-hear-you-like "Ooh"-ing over the man saying "Attention, all adults". I love how pretty this song is, but the weird sound bytes and the DJ-scratching sounds give it that weird, cool P5 sound.

9. "Ballerina" by Olivia One of Olivia's B-sides, though I actually like it better than some of her album tracks. It's very pretty and experimental, like most of Olivia's songs. This track seems like a precursor to her "NANA" track "Winter Sleep" (also a great song), with its winter-y feel and how it's a ballad. The song's like standing in the middle of a forest clearing during a slow beautiful snow, during Christmas, just spinning arounf like a ballerina. I do come up with some strange song descriptions....xD

10. "Beautiful World" by Utada Hikaru I love this song so much! I kinda fell out of love with Hikki for awhile after her "Ultra Blue" album, but her recent single made me remember why I love her. Great lyrics, pretty and soulful voice, and a very unique sound. This song kinda reminds me of her recent "Ultra Blue" album, with it's pretty, electronic sound. This song has an electro-pop feel, but it's more pretty and ballad-like. The instrumentation and background vocals are complex and layered, a trademark of Hikki's sound. This song feels like the series it comes from, Neon Genesis Evangelion, in a way. A pretty pop song and an angsty post-apocalyptic anime would seem to have nothing in common, but "Beautiful World" and Eva are both dreamy and complex, full of wonder and electronics. A fitting song for the new Eva movie. By the way, if anyone can provide me with a link to subs of that new Eva movie, I would greatly appreciate it!

And as a bonus...
"Bubble Trip" by Anna Tsuchiya I HATE THIS SONG. It's fucking growing on me!! I'm so sorry, pengie...Now I'm going around using "booty-tripping" in normal conversation....oh dear ^^; It's better though, when you stop thinking "This is the woman who sang songs like 'Lucy' and 'Kuroi Namida' and was Spin Aqua's lead singer" and start thinking "This is the woman who sang 'Slap That Naughty Body' (which I still swear, is even worse that this song)"

meme, jrock, namie amuro, daleks, neon genesis evangelion, anna tsuchiya, video, songs that should commit hara-kiri, download, aya, news, why anna why?, zac efron, stephen colbert, nana, movies, fanfic, high school musical, shibuya kei, oh so gay, gay gay gay, steph is my one true love, anderson cooper, rps, pizzicato five, judy and mary, superbad, pundits, the brilliant green, strangers with candy, slash, olivia lufkin, doctor who, utada hikaru, jpop, aiha higurashi, mika nakashima, review
