I've always known how crazy wotas can be, but around 10 second mark, you hear this annoying guy's voice throughout most of the video. And his shouting is HILARIOUS. I mean, just listen to the "DJ, put it back on~" part. I don't know why, that makes me laugh the most. XD Such passion! Such hilarity! Only the wotas.
I shall be practicing this dance tomorrow together with some other cosplayers. We plan to do a videoshoot next Saturday. I got most of the dance down except for some tiny parts, such as the moment before the chorus. So hopefully, I can iron those out with the others and the shoot next week will turn out well!
On to a different topic, most Malaysians would have heard about
the Government's recent distaste over the existence of anime. As usual, the Malaysian government has decided to play stupid. Instead of worrying about the many racial problems happening right at this moment, the injustice being thrown on different races and ranks, etc. they decide to blind us by throwing red herrings of the existence of anime and how bad it is.
I don't know when will our Government grow up and educate themselves more instead of spouting shit like this every single day. If a rating system can exist for movies and TV shows, I don't see why the same cannot be applied to anime. Just because it's animated, does not mean it's meant for kids. This does not apply to America only, but to ALL animations. What is our censorship board doing? Are they really thinking about our benefits or for their own?
It doesn't help that we mostly get bootlegged anime here anyways. -___-
And scantily clad women? Helloooo? Female American Superheroes aren't exempt of that either! And the government can say all they want about women and how we ask to be raped. Whether we wear a baju kurung or winter clothes that cover our whole body, men will have their sexual urges and they'll forever blame women for it. Rather than continuously blame female figures or women themselves, wouldn't it be better to teach men to RESPECT women and that just because we wear something figure fitting or flattering, it does not mean we want to have sex?
Honestly, government, the answer is so obvious. I just don't get why you have to be so stupid about it all.
Anyways, the Malay Mail decided to interview a few anime club presidents
and their views of this matter. And a lot of them have spoken the truth that anime ranges from friendly to violent.
But one comment bothered me.
Taylor's Anime Society president Chong Er Whey found anime currently aired on TV like Doraemon, Digimon, and Cardcaptor Sakura are suitable for kids.
Chong, however, said the latest and more popular shows contained a lot of adult content, such as violence and 'accidental touching'.
I'll touch on the second paragraph first. NO. Violence and 'accidental touching' has been happening years before and it is no surprise. You watch Bleach? Naruto? One Piece? Of course, there'll be violence! And accidental touching is the buttjoke of most shoujo/ecchi anime! But just like everything, you don't casually show to kids the animes unless you're willing to sit through it with them and explain what exactly is happening.
And wait... wait... did you just lump Digimon and Cardcaptor Sakura together with Doraemon as a kids anime?? Are you serious?? ARE YOU SERIOUS??
I can't speak for Digimon but I'm pretty sure it has some issues that aren't that kid friendly either. But Cardcaptor Sakura is NOT kid friendly, despite how it looks.
Sure, it's an anime about a freaking magical girl and there's barely any violence in it. But try explaining Syaoran's infatuation with Yukito, or Tomoyo's love for Sakura? How about Rika and Terada-Sensei? Or even Sakura's parents relationship? And then there's the obvious, Touya and Yukito.
Granted, CCS was what opened up the idea of how unlimited love is to me, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's just a kids show. I had a fear that I couldn't introduce CCS to my kids because of these elements once. Of course, now I'm still determined to introduce CCS to them and teach them the difference between fantasy and reality (cause you gotta admit, CCS's characters are surreal considering they're thinking of love at 10!), and that CCS is a medium to show that love comes in different forms. And then, after that, I gotta show them what's NOT the right kind of love (abuse, molest, etc.), cause you know...
Wait, why am I talking about being a parent?? Pffft!
What? I'M JUST SAYING! As
cappy_phreakyfish said, it's CLAMP. Even though it's covered in cuteness and flowers, it's still a CLAMP creation and it's going to have elements of WTF in it. XD Reality doesn't work that way, CLAMP, but you obviously love living in that world so go ahead and make more weird mangas!
And to conclude, anime is a great story telling medium, just like movies, and TV shows. Of course, there needs to be some form of discretion but this applies to everything. Food, destinations, etc. Don't subject anime to be tossed away just because of a misconception!
And err... yeah. I'm working right now so my thoughts are all over the place. Excuse me. *runs off*
