Hello! I don't expect this post to be my big return to livejournal (although I still do semi-regularly read my flist), but I felt the urge to write something here and decided to just go with it.

I'm still in graduate school (probably for another year-ish - the earliest I'd finish is around December, but I'm thinking of taking an internship that would delay my finish for another few months). It's up and down. Some days I can see a clear path to the finish and am excited for the work I'll do; other days I'm stressed out and worried that I'm worthless and lazy and slow. I will probably be one of the last people of my entering class to defend my dissertation and graduate, and while I know intellectually that it's okay to finish on my own schedule, my inner critic likes to point it out as a sign of my shortcomings.

The rest of my life is too busy, but in a good way. I'm still doing a lot of sports and athletics: ultimate frisbee (not right this instant, but the spring season will start back in April), indoor bouldering, running (thinking about doing a half marathon in April, but haven't committed yet because my training keeps getting interrupted), and a new volleyball team (we are not good, but we are having fun learning!). My boyfriend and I are part of a semi-regular board game group. I'm still in a community orchestra. I'm probably not trying to stay in this city after I graduate, but I think it will be hard to leave and start over from scratch in someplace new.

I don't have a good conclusion to this post, but I want to note a few things that have happened since I last shared here:
- Last spring, my boyfriend and I moved out of our old place (a shared house) into our own apartment! With a couple of exceptions (they didn't tell us that we were in a smoking building until after we had moved in >:( ), it's been great! I don't miss having roommates at all.
- Last summer, I played ultimate frisbee on a women's club team! (Like, we had regular practice and dues and traveled for tournaments.) I even handled sometimes! (For those not in the know, handling = a position that involves more throwing, often given to more experienced players.)
- Last fall, a good friend from undergrad got married! I was a bridesmaid in the wedding (a first for me) and we all went to Disney World the day after.
- A week ago, I gave my first "conference" presentation (technically it was a workshop, but it was sort of formatted like a mini-conference) and won an award for the best student presentation!

So...yeah. If anyone reads this, how are you?
