The Cat's Meow by
Stacey Kennedy My rating:
4 of 5 stars I've never read any of the author's previous books, but did look at the synopsis of some. Wow, what a different direction(I think).
Anyway, this book is really cute! I am an avid fan of DotA1/2 so when I read that Libby is an Enchantress I immediately thought of her
Aiushtha is a super, super cute hero in DotA2 and I absolutely adore her so while I was reading this book I just imagined Libby as Aiushtha but with a human body and a little bit more sassy. *squeals*
I liked that the romance in this book (unlike some others that I've read) was slow and building, where I was convinced that Libby does like Kale. However, I was less convinced over Kale's love-at-first-sight/I've-never-met-anyone-like-you confession. Hence, the lack of 5-stars for this book.
Really cute cover, and I like the overall plot for this book. (view spoiler)[Didn't quite like the Mary Sue bit though - Libby happens to be an all-powerful enchantress (also that Kael happens to be a High Priest). It's weird that the Goddess has so much time to speak through every single Enchantress out there and is very much willing to impart information for a crime. (Having an enchantress as a detective is very much kick-ass and will definitely save us from all the crimes in the world) Too much idealised fantasy for a book. Oh well! (hide spoiler)]
