The Shadow Reader by
Sandy Williams My rating:
5 of 5 stars Like Mackenzie I may have developed Stockholm syndrome for the kidnapper Aren, and thought that the love triangle in this book was a real dilemma! I couldn't choose! Kyol was amazing. He was someone that understood Mackenzie and was a noble guy who was loyal to his king and friend. Aren was reckless but hot.
They're both equally hot.
I can't decide!!!!
I've read some reviews before I decide to comment and I absolutely agree that this book is YA. I cannot imagine Mackenzie as a 26 year old. For all I know she could be a 16 year old in the body of a 26 y/o. Sometimes her actions were so childish I couldn't even bear it but the hotness of both Kyol and Aren made me ignore them.
There was the action and everything that should be in a book like this. But the romance oh my lorddd... did I mention this was one of the first books where I couldn't decide whether the heroine should be with whom?? It never made sense to me that Aren would fall so rapidly in love with the heroine since day 1 of her abduction, but if you have that edarratae in the way, it speeds things up so much quicker! Right??
I owe the 5-star rating to Stockholm syndrome, hot faeries and the amazing ferocity of the author to kill off her characters. It's not because it made sense or anything. guilty as charged
