Taking Shots by Toni Aleo

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

The book should have ended when they proclaimed love for each other.
First off, the lady Ellie Fisher is so insecure. And I thought I was insecure. She had an incredible experience performing in Broadway then had a blip with her ex-boyfriend who was such a douchebag only a person called Ellie Fisher did not have the balls to dump him before the whole fiasco.

Anyway, failed Broadway? It's OK! Ellie is multi-talented! she has her way with the cameras and owns a successful business in photography. She's also a trust fund baby, because her childless-uncle-who-favours-her-and-who-included-her-in-his-will owns a successful ice-hockey team and her family who she hates lives in some gigantic mansion! INSECURE? INSECURE?

WTF are you insecure about?

Get this: Although Ellie is convinced that she is "fat", all her peers are adamant that she's not.

In the opening of the story, she meets the guy Shea Alder who is immediately attracted to her because of her eyes? Wow, it's really nice that Caucasians can do that, cos I know we Asians, we all have the same eye colour it's so boring I can't relate. Thanks for pointing out the feature that we all do not possess. Thanks.

Shea is attracted to her curvaceous body and reprimands anyone who says she is fat. So the million dollar question:

what is Ellie's definition of fat??

does she have the body of Kim Kardashian? because helllll no that is not fat.

fat is

fat is not (albeit how much I abhor KK)

I really don't want to say this but

Bitch if you're not fat don't go round saying you're fat, OK????

There's nothing to be insecure about non-existent fat.
Before they even proceed to the first date, Shea already (magically) knows (via his telepathy skills) that Ellie is special. Because Shea has only dated dumb Barbies in his life, so anyone who is not a dumb Barbie garnered-by-his-telepathic-skill is special. Ellie should ever be so lucky to be the first non-Barbie that features in Shea's life.

How can this book have 3-star and above ratings is beyond me.

DNF. Goodbye.
