Chapter 2:

As their Gokusen drama had officially came to an end, Kame thought that he finally had some free time to spend with his lover and got to enjoy some time together, probably just some snuggling on the sofa at home, would be fine with him too. He just doesn’t ask for too much.

Afterall, his lover had been whining about the lack of time they were spending together and most importantly, they haven’t even gone on an official date yet since that night when they affirmed their love for each other! No wonder, Jin was grumbling so much.

Despite all the weariness and pressure he felt, he had obtained the will to hang on for the sake of his beloved Jin. Therefore, he penned down all his thoughts and loves for Jin and put them into a song. The only thing he was pondering on was the title for the song. So when he caught sight of his shimmering ring on his pinky finger, he decided to name the song as ‘kizuna’. He decided to keep it all confidential from Jin, meaning it as a surprise for the latter.

Just when he thought he could be granted a few days’ leave as he had expected, he was called upon by Mr. Johnny and been informed that he would be arranged to take part in another new drama together with Yamapi.

God. Yamapi. He was supposed to act in a drama with Yamapi. It was a known fact among NEWS, KAT-TUN and even Kanjani 8 that Yamapi wasn’t that fond of Kame right from the very first time they met. He doesn’t know the reason for that too. All he had heard from Jin is that, Yamapi thought he would lose Jin to Kame since they were always so close and now that, they even became a couple, that gave Yamapi more reasons to abhor Kame.

And having a hectic schedule doesn’t help Kame at all too. He practically doesn’t have any more time for Jin at all. And Jin was starting to lost temper and threw tantrum at him for that. He had always needed to pacify Jin with his kisses and warm gestures and so far, he hasn’t failed.

Until this day, announcements had been made that Kame would be debuting with Yamapi first before his debut in KAT-TUN, as a temporary group formed from the drama they were acting together in. Jin couldn’t contain his aggravation anymore. That was the trigger. Those sweet, tempting ministrations of Kazuya’s no longer worked on him.

“Aren’t you happy now, Kazuya?” Jin bellowed lividly the moment he kicked open the door of their dressing room, revealing an astound Kame slouching at the couch tiredly.

“Huh?” Kame looked up at the fuming figure and furrowed his brows. “What are you talking about, Jin?”

“That debut with Yamapi, my dear. Don’t play dumb with me.” Jin answered sarcastically while sending a frigid glare at him.

“Oh… erm, Jin… regarding that, please listen to my explanation…” Kame stood up and started to move to appease Jin which proved to be in vain.

“No. Debut all you want with Pi. I don’t give a fucking care. I had enough of your nonsense. We never have the time together any more ever since you started on that stupid drama with Yamapi! I felt lonely and lost in the house, ‘our home’ we call it, every night waiting for your return! We had never even got to go on an official date before! Sometimes, I just find that you are so distant! Now, do we deserve to call ourselves a couple?”

“J-jin…” Tears started to form silently in Kame’s eyes as he listened to Jin’s angry rambling. He seriously knew all these too… but what he doesn’t know was that it had really affected Jin that much already.

“Tell me! Do we?” Jin shouted again. Upon hearing that, Kame felt akin to having his heart being ripped off from his chest harshly.

Kame raised his quivering hand to tug on Jin’s arm but was swatted away by a big force immediately. Tears flowed endlessly through his eyes, blurring his vision.

“Jin… I… I didn’t want that debut too. It-It was Johnny-san’s decision…” Kame stuttered out appallingly, hoping that Jin would at least listen to him.

Jin ignored Kame’s explanation and asked frostily again. “Do you think that we still deserve to be a couple?”

Kame was stunned for words; hence, he kept quiet, clutching his hand into a fist tightly. His heart was cracking; bit by bit of his shattered heart dropping off slowly one by one. Of course, he doesn’t want to answer that question. In his heart, they were always a couple. They were always together. They should always be together. They were meant to be one.

“It’s alright. I got the answer for you.” Jin broke the silence unemotionally, effectively masking his own heart-broken emotions whilst Kame looked up fearfully at him, fearing the upcoming words from Jin’s mouth.

He knew what Kame wanted. He knew what he himself wanted as well. But, things couldn’t just be so perfect for them. His own anger succeeded in twisting his rational thinking; hence, making him spoke out the words that pained him more than anything else in the world, stabbing his heart excruciatingly.

‘I’m sorry that I couldn’t give you the reply you yearn to hear.’

“Let’s break up.”

The song ‘Kizuna’ was later included and released in the single under the name of ‘Shuji and Akira’, the temporary group which consisted of Kame and Yamapi formed from Nobuta wo Produce, after their broke-up. Friends among Kame and Jin, who had heard that song, knew that Kame meant it as his symbolized, poignant love for Jin. The only unbeknownst person was Jin.

Whenever Kame heard or sang the song he wrote especially for the one and only worthy person for it, he would always bear one thinking in his mind.

‘The song that I have written for you, I have been singing it seriously every time. But yet, without your applause, what does it even matter?’

After that agonizing broke-up, Jin and Kame have always tried to avoid each other as amicably as possible. They always came up with excuses to avoid being together in the same place or dinner unless it’s for the group’s interest.

Furthermore, who in the first place, would have ever predicted that Kame and Yamapi would eventually become such dear friends after getting along for only three months? So the tension between Kame, Jin and Yamapi grew and became visible whenever the trio appeared in the same place.

Jin and Kame still tried their best to stay as normal, good friends. They still talked and got along as per normal. Though, sometimes, sense of awkwardness did float around. But they did their best to overcome it and to communicate as per usual. Therefore, at least nothing was too evident in the public’s eyes.

Soon, T-TUN started to notice that the once-inseparable-famous-pair of pinky rings worn by Kame and Jin had vanished. Although Kame was still wearing his, Jin’s one had obviously been removed. It’s missing from his right pinky finger. It’s empty there. Kame was aware of it too. Somehow, the hopelessness within Kame’s heart widened and he began to contemplate whether should he actually keep wearing his.

However, he soon understood that Jin was never going to come back to him. Jin removed that pinky ring of his, was the significance of telling Kame and everyone that the bond between he and Kame was severed. Kame comprehended it fully, thus, he removed his ring from his left pinky finger agonizingly and kept it away, pain stabbing his chest repeatedly.

The pair of pinky rings that were once always shining on their pinky fingers had vanished completely. It was understandable to everyone around them then that, those rings and that particular topic was a taboo to both Jin and Kame.

They thought things were just going to stop and ended there. But something was just amiss from the whole thing. Everyone saw it and knew it. Nevertheless, they didn’t know how to help out those two.

It was clear that Kame and Jin weren’t able to be separated for long because Jin couldn’t bear to see Kame swallowing all his anguishes alone and kept it to himself. He couldn’t stand seeing Kame getting thinner and thinner each day with all of his agony and unsaid words bottled within inside him. Kame felt his heart ached more every time he remembered that he and Jin were no longer tied together in a bond.

Kame still loved Jin. Jin knew that.

Jin still loved Kame. Kame knew that, too.

The problem was… how to let the both of them saw this crucial point.

Everyone around them was anxious for them, but the ones being truly involved were not anxious at all.
