'Lancelot Du Lac'
This episode was....well I'm gonna hold my hand up and say that I didn't like it.
Now don't get me wrong, I thought that there was some wonderful acting from all the cast and that final scene between Merlin and Lancelot had me in tears. However, I found the episode itself to be deeply depressing, frustrating and just generally quite unenjoyable.
I did not like what they did with with Lancelot. Bringing him back in the manner that they did..well for me, it just cheapened his noble sacrifice at the end of 4x02. I hated the fact that apart from Gaius and Merlin, everyone else believes that it was the Lance we know and love that did the things he did and then killed himself. That just doesn't sit right with me.
Also, the whole 'Gwen and the Bracelet' thing was frustrating. Why didn't Merlin speak to her about what had happened? If he had, then she might have told him about the gift Lance gave her.
And don't even get me started on Elyan. Or Arthur once again seeming to behave irrationally.
*sigh*
Up to 4x07, I think that this Season has been superb. There's been a nice mixture of humour and drama, and the Merlin/Arthur relationship has been handled beautifully but the last couple of eppys have been a real let-down. I'm just hoping that the last 4 pick up again and we return to all that has made this Season a fabulous one!
