Yesterday I officially took over the chairmanship of the Art Society Board Speakers Bureau, which will be helpful as many of the team have been contacting me already and I have had to defer to the previous chair, even though she and I both knew I was going to be taking over. So that's done and I can add yet another responsibility to my life.
I had my first experience with the serious lag problems they talk about with Second Life yesterday afternoon -- I was on for an hour; the system crashed once and I was in limbo for quite some time -- trying to put on my swimsuit but couldn't get the dress off my AV nor get rid of her shoes. Very disappointing, and I understand better why it is such an issue!
Had a lunch meeting at a new restaurant called South in North HIlls today. Good southern cooking -- two of the women had the shrimp and grits which they said was very good, the she-crab soup was outstanding, and the crab cake Marcy had was lots of chunky crab and very little filler. I had the grilled chicken salad, served on not enough greens to suit me, but there was arugula, strawberries, creamy feta and roasted red peppers, and the chicken was moist and tasty. Definitely worth another trip.
Tomorrow is a busy day -- one meeting at 9:30, another at 10 which I have to be at, as I am the Art Society Board rep to the building and grounds committee, and it is the first one since I was appointed. The architect will be there to go over the latest version of the plan for the new building. At 11:30 I have to be at the Woman's Club of Raleigh meeting which will be over at around 1:30, then a lull until 4 PM when I have another meeting back at the Museum with one of the Speakers Bureau presenters. During the break I'm heading to B&N if they have free WiFi, or to Caribou Coffee, as I know they do, although I'd rather be at B&N, surrounded by books!
Dinner last night was leftover pork chop parmigiana, but with the great Taurino Salice Salentino -- this was the 2001. Always good and always a good price. Stopped at Total Wine today and picked up another bottle, for $11.99.
No real dinner or wine tonight -- Italian class, so I had to leave early, and just had some leftover quiche, and then a Grolsch once I got home, And now it's getting late, and I have to get up early tomorrow, so goodnight!
