Funeral
I am back at home now. I have been with my family since yesterday, the funeral and obsequies for my Grandmother were on Tuesday.
It wasn't as horrible as I feared it would be.
First we had church service, then we drove to the cemetery, had a small service again in front of her coffin and then entombed her in the same place were her beloved husband was buried around 39 years ago.
Then we went to have the funeral feast with the last bit of people left. It was no near relaxed, but not as bad as I imagined.
The air was a bit heavy in the small chapel on the cemetery, since it it more than one week that my Grandma died.
We wanted the funeral to be way earlier, but last Thursday was a religious holiday, where nobody works, on Friday the pastors didn't work either, since it was just in the middle of a holiday and the week-end, where they usually don't work. So well... We had to wait until Tuesday.
The cemetery i a very nice and beautiful one and her grave was loaded with flowers, which was really pretty.
But I didn't think that I would miss her so much already.
It is not that we had a very close relationship, we didn't talk about intimate things very often. We only saw each other every few weeks and on holidays. But she was the link that held my German part of the family together. No celebration without her and mostly we celebrated at her place!
And I already miss the look on her face each time we came to visit her, how happy and proud she was. And what I miss the most is that each time she welcomed me and my sister with the usual "Look how pretty and tall they became! You always become prettier and prettier!"
No matter how you looked that day, how shitty you may feel or may be dressed, each time I met her I was "more beautiful than before". That just HAS to put a smile on your face. :)
And she always had a certain way to call me, a nickname nobody else ever uses. And I will really miss to hear that.
What happened besides of that..... My sister turned 21 this weekend! She had a great party with at least 35 people in her maybe 15qm room in her flat share.
And I went to have my eyes tested, if I can have them lasered, since I am not allowed to wear my contacts as much as I used to.
But the operation I'd need would cost so much, nothing I could pay within the next years :( Didn't think that it would be THAT pricey!
Next saturday is a huge meet-up in my town and I am looking forward to it! I will have a few girls here for an overnight stay, so I am currently trying to make the flat look as neat as possible ;P And I am especially looking forward to the Cocktail evening after the meetup. I think I need one or two right now XD And a funny day out too.
