When Does Now Arrive?
Speedy (Roy Harper)/ Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)
Based around the episode “Patriot Act” when Green Arrow and Speedy interact. Kind of angsty, I guess. Mild slash though, only kissing. Some adult language and content. In this reality, GA did not adopt Speedy.
“Speedy, we gotta do this now?” Slash. AU.
oooOOOoooOOOooo
“Do you have to go already?” Oliver asked, startling his ex-side kick. He seemed to be packing, twisting an arrow nervously between his hands. Oliver regarded Roy steadily and the younger man turned back away from him, going back to throwing clothing haphazardly in a suit case. He didn’t respond and Ollie already knew the answer anyways.
“I’m sure you have pressing business at…” Oliver paused, realized he didn’t know where Speedy would have business at. Their parting had been anything but pleasant, but he was surprised at how much Roy had grown. He watched him as he packed, wished that Roy would respond to him and not ignore him.
“The Outsiders.” He responded, voice chilly. Oliver swallowed hard at that. Apparently their interactions in the field had been an exception to their rules of interaction, not the norm. It had almost been like the old days… when they could banter with one another. Before… before all of the bad judgment calls. Oliver licked his lips.
“Right.” He said softly. He licked his lips. He tried to think of something to say, something that wasn’t contrived or forced. Something that didn’t sound like a cop-out but when he got right down to it, everything sounded that way. Poor decisions made in haste had broken something special between the two of them. But Roy was a man now, if he could maybe forgive and forget… he let out another sigh. “Listen, Roy… I…”
“Don’t. Don’t even fucking say it.” Roy hissed suddenly. “Because I know you don’t mean it. I know all you’re trying to do here is mend your guilty conscience and I’m not going to let you do it. I’m not going to forgive you.” He said with his voice still ice-like. “We are ex-partners, you knew, even then, that I was more than your side-kick… more than…” He choked off the words. He finally turned to face Oliver. His eyes were as cold as his voice.
“Roy…” Oliver whispered, reaching out to him.
“Fuck. Ollie, don’t.” Roy took a step back. “We had a rough time, I understand that. We had our good times but fuck, Ollie. You abandoned me when I needed you more than anything, so what do you want me to say, huh?” He asked. Oliver looked a little hurt, but nodded. “You kicked me out, Ollie. You didn’t get me help you just…” He let out a shuddering sigh.
“Roy, I’m sorry…” He said finally. Roy just stared at him, eyes dark. They didn’t seem angry anymore, just sort of empty. Roy turned back towards his suitcase.
“Listen, I understand Ollie, I do. You were going through a hard time too. I understand that. We *both* made bad decisions, I’m not going to deny that Ollie… but…” He sighed, fought back a wave of emotions. “You’re happy now, you have Dinah. And me… I have the Outsiders.”
“Roy, will you listen to me for a minute?” Ollie asked. Roy shook his head.
“No, Ollie. You’re right. This isn’t the time or the place. There never will be a time or place for this.” Roy said. He turned to Ollie and took a step closer to him. He pulled Ollie tightly to him in a crushing embrace. Ollie returned the embrace whole heartedly, and was warmed and pleased when he felt the firm touch of lips to his own. The kiss was familiar, enticing… and yet, different in away. He dared even say… darker. “And don’t worry, because we’re over it. I’m over it. I don’t let it bother me anymore, and you really shouldn’t let it bother you either.” Roy slipped out of the loose grip Ollie had on him and resumed his packing. He finished, shutting his suitcase with a loud snap.
“Goodbye, Oliver.” He said, oddly formal but a little sad. “I’m sure our paths will cross in the future again and maybe then… maybe then I’ll have forgiven you.”
