I'm not even kidding when I say that I cried. There was no other alpha female meerkat as capable of leading and holding a family together.
Rocketdog doesn't deserve the prestige that her mother held. She's already been the cause of death for two pups, and despite being victorious in battle against the enemy - the Zappa - I don't think her leadership skills are very effective.
The last two actions Flower performed before her death struck me the most: first, she adopted the abandoned child of the enemy group, the Zappa. Then, instead of allowing her family to save the newborn pups from the venomous cape cobra, she pushed forward and sacrificed herself in order to save everyone else.
I'm sorry, Zaphod. You and Flower had a wonderful 4 years of being the dominant pair, and you were loyal to her until the end. But the females that remain are all your daughters. You have no further use to the Whiskers family, and it's time to move on. ♥
