Got any plans for next August?
Tonight I was having a little chat with my friend Lauren who is in the same uncomfortable predicament I am, in that her younger sister is getting married in the next year, whereas she is not even seeing anybody. Her sister's wedding is sooner than my sister's, so she has put out the word that she is looking to be set up with people, which has resulted in her being set up on a series of really bad blind dates. (Which was the original topic of our conversation.) All of this to say, I WILL NOT be attending my sister's wedding without a date, and I will definitely be attending my sister's wedding, since I am her maid of honor and all. Anyway, I will, of course, actively pursue trying to find a real boyfriend between now and then so that he can be my date; however, if I am unable to find one, I will resort to any and all means available to avoid going to this wedding alone. So, guys, be on alert: if you know me and I at all enjoy hanging out with you, you are on the short list for possible wedding dates. If I have ever been so kind as to accompany you to a wedding, you are at the top of the list. If you don't want to go, you better start thinking about your excuse now because I may get more belligerent about this as the time approaches.
