It's a hundred degrees, but we went up Rock Creek and played in a chilly pool under a bridge and took naked photos of one another standing in a waterfall and sat in rapids and picked up tiny geodes and amazing mineral samples we broke out of the lava. The boss can sing. I was greatly amused by his songs and his straightforward rhythm guitar. The band, all 50-somethings, rocked pretty hard. The boss's wife grabbed me up and pulled me onto the dance floor. the other half of the building I work in is for sale. Built by one of the Aalvik brothers in 1912 (the other built the Grill half). Two commercial spaces on the main street, 256 sq ft storage on ground floor, 735 sq ft apartment upstairs, with another 450 sq ft of unfinished space.

Mikey and Jenice came from Portland since PSU (where they work) is on spring break. We hung out and talked and drank beer and got the dirt: apparently Sodexho lost the PSU contract, whoops. Getting more of the ten inches of rain we expect over three days. Roads are washed out and land is sliding, Rock Creek is huge and the mighty Columbia is brown. Sun breaks through once, twice, leaving rainbow shards afloat.

I was too long used to two seasons: over 100F and under 100F.

Mid-October in the Gorge brings rain and grey scudding clouds and some ( fall color. )

Rock Creek enters the mighty Columbia about three blocks from our house. Today we went uphill and looked for the hot springs.
