Tomorrow completes fifteen years of keeping this journal.

One of my oldest LJ pals just said, in effect, 'oh yeah, I remember Livejournal, that used to be a thing, I lost access somehow and well Facebook is just better for what I want it for.'

Ah well. Kevin encouraged me to walk rather than ride today so I did 7.5 miles up and down hills.

A Sunday Stroll

I need a break from Facebook. Same idiots, same bad recipes, same ignorant arguments day after day. Last night this weirdo I know got all crabby and it was the last straw. Oh yuck! I let my paid LJ account expire, because A, there are like three of us left here anymore, and B, I am twenty-dollars-for-the-rest-of-the-month poor.

Now there are fucking ADS on EVERYthing and I only have 15 userpics. Oh, and I can't build polls. Meh. We'll see if I get bugged enough to give the Russians any more money for this platform.

Today I start my twelfth year of LiveJournal.

GODDAMNIT LIVEJOURNAL, HERE I AM NEARLY ELEVEN YEARS INTO THIS AND THE FASCINATING PEOPLE WHO USED TO HANG OUT HERE ARE MOSTLY GONE. THIS USED TO BE A LOT MORE FUN THAN FACEBOOK WILL EVER BE. GODDAMNIT!

Although I do plan to let my journal revert to free status, I am not leaving.

As one friend who's been here ten years takes her leave, I look back (which is one of the uses of a journal, after all, and one of the things LJ does best) to the days when people had actual things to say here. For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.
