Fed something over 200 Thursday night at Noyes Elementary, family fun night and a math game. They had penne with tomato, mozzarella, hot Italian sausage, and ground beef, with green salad and garlic bread, cookies, iced tea, and lemonade. They guaranteed 285 and I prepped for 300, though I had probably food for closer to 400. (I chose a 3-oz dry pasta portion which should have been 2.) They liked it, one parent said it was better than they expected. The lemonade dispenser kept me hopping, though, and the one for tea leaked all over the place. End to end about a twelve-hour day.
Yesterday I fed the Central football varsity a meal of roasted chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, cookies, and bananas, which they liked a lot and will probably repeat in two weeks.
Today it's gorgeous out, low 70s and low humidity, first chill of autumn in the air this morning. We bought mums and lavender to put in the yard, and
babysasquatch has been rebuilding the path that goes from the front porch around the east side of the house. The stump he has cut out with an axe will be gone today, and the bricks he pulled up from the artless sidewalk he's replacing are making a nice patio around the back door.
We went to a place called Gyro Paradise for dinner and it was sublime. Really really good baba ganouj and kofteh kebab. Lovely hummus and gyro salad. Should have been eating there 8 out of 10 times in restaurants since we got here!
