The new kitty is very friendly...except to Niko... And apparently very furry and is shedding everywhere... And I am sneezing a lot... heh...
Oh well. I'll get over that... I've been somewhat allergic to cats in the past and do usually sneeze quite a bit when I am around new cats. It has normally gone away after a few days before when I get a new cat so I'm sure it will do the same this time...
This cat moves very quietly and quickly. The quiet is in part to it's smaller size than Niko and because the previous owner had it declawed so all I can hear is a slight tapping from it's back feet. I keep saying "it" only because I am a bit confused as to the actual sex of this cat... I was told prior to taking it in that it is a male cat that has been neutered. Well, Niko was neutered and he still has all his parts. This cat has a saggy fold of skin around it's stomach in the same place Sheba did after she was spayed, since when they spay females, the muscles in that area tend to no longer function causing a pouch that hangs down.
Since this cat is jet black and very furry, I cannot get close enough to the backside to see if it still has all its parts or if it has the second opening, but that extra skin around it's tummy and it's very gentle nature seem to indicate a female cat... (it's friendly, but not friendly enough to permit a closer inspection of that particular area... Niko has tried several times and is swatted at...) Maybe when they neutered this cat, they actually really did neuter it completely... They did not do that to Niko...
I've tried to take pictures but all I get is a black shadow. The cat likes the camera and runs at it to sniff it so it won't sit still long enough for me to get a picture of it... They also named it Tigger, but a Tigger cat is, well...Tigger... And this cat is jet black... Not Tigger... So, I will need a new name... It doesn't respond when I say Tigger so I doubt it will mind much. Niko comes running when I say his name, Sheba used to come running when I said her name.
Niko has so far been very nice to the cat. Tries to make nice and gets swatted at so he just goes about his normal business, except since the new kitty has been roaming about the house now and running up to me to pet it, and sitting by me, he is now showing signs of protecting what he considers his territory... The new kitty got to me first when I awoke this morning, so after observing this from a distance, he jumped up on the couch and sat up higher, looking down making the new cat nervous so it jumped off me... The new cat then sat in the window where Niko spends the majority of his days... That was an interesting thing to watch as Niko seemed to contemplate that development... I knew that as soon as Niko walked over to that spot the new cat would jump down, which it did, but I can see small cat fights popping up as the new kitty realizes that Niko is not a fighter and will just go elsewhere if confronted... Well, I'm skinny and don't have much of a lap, but the window is big enough for both of them. Sheba and Niko shared it just fine so I'm not too worried.
Well, that's it for now...
Stay Safe,
Tim
