artwork, part two: colored pencil, doodles, and unfinished items

these too will be in vague chronological order.

this is a four-panel colored-pencil i started last summer.  it was originally going to be for vince and angela's apartment... but they broke up.  and it's not finished, anyway.  one of these days...
the bottom left is to be waves crashing on a cliff.  the bottom right is to be flames boiling smoke.

this is my zippo.  it was once liz's, and had a spider on it.  the spider wore off, and i decided to etch spirals in it.  the goal is to eventually cover the whole surface.

i'm pretty sure this was done shortly before school started last fall.  a couple of you may recognize the figure on the left.  if you do, you probably can guess why i didn't finish.

and this was done soon after, while i was waiting at the student advisement center to register for classes.

this is the kind of thing that happens when i'm bored and i ask drew what to draw.  in this case, his response was "a guy choking on a shoe."  (i had another neat little drew-spawned doodle, but i can't remember where i put it.  it was a clock with three (people) hands, i believe.)

this is a self-portrait, done over winter break, sitting on a stool in the bathroom in my pajamas.  i got interrupted because my dad had to get in the bathroom or i had to move some furniture around or something, and just never came back to it.

this is a preliminary sketch i did for a drawing of casey, bj's fiance.  she was about two weeks from popping out their daughter, and i thought she looked like a female buddha.  i'll not be posting the actual drawing, because it's a nude and that just wouldn't be very polite of me, would it?

this is dave's birthday present.  he asked for something involving chaos and order, and i felt that, his being a fellow pisces, i needed to incorporate some ohshit fish.  it's a colored pencil, 18x24.

i did this while at heather's house.  thanks to her for the photo.  (and again, for the knitted nautiloid birthday present for inspiration.)

this was me playing with the nupastels that kara got me for my birthday.  unfortunately, the roses wilted before i finished.

this one was started at heather's...

and this is what it looks like after working on it this weekend.  i'm still unsure as to what to do with the hand and imaginary right leg.

and this is a doodle i did afterward, while sitting around watching drew play eve.

that is all the art i have to offer right now.  if you're thinking, "geez, ariel, you call yourself an artist but this is all you have to show for the last nine or ten months?" then i'll offer the excuse of a combination of school and this fun new thing that heather taught me:
