artwork, part one: classworks

so this will be the first installation of photos of artwork.  for lack of a better way of organization, this first post will be things that i did for drawing fundamentals last semester.
i'd really like to do thumbnails, but i'm not sure how to code the type of page i would want a thumbnail link to lead to, so i'm just going to put them all here.

these are in chronological order.  all of them are on 18x24 inch paper, except the last two, which are on something like 20x28.

this is a self-portrait (obviously).  our assignment was to photocopy our faces and take a sheet of drawing paper, color it completely black with charcoal, then use an eraser to do our shading.  i got really pissed off while finishing it the night before the critique and didn't finish the hand- and when our instructor saw it, she urged me to leave it that way.  it was my intention to finish, but eh.  i probably won't.

this was a drawing for contour line.  it's a dried-out tree stump laying on its side, in case you can't tell.

i think this was another for concentration on line.  i spent many hours and drank many beers while doing this.  i think my time was worth it.  my apologies, there is a flash glare on this one.

this is a sketch for an objects-in-spatial-relations drawing.  the assignment was to incorporate a sphere, a cylinder, and a cone, and to have at least three openings.  the finished drawing went to mikey for a wedding present, and unfortunately i didn't get a picture of it first.

this is a drawing for two-point perspective.  yay straight lines.

the finale:  these last are two of three nupastel drawings we did, focusing on light and shadow.  the first day, she gave us tan paper and black pastels, and we were to use an eraser to draw a saddle.  the second day, she gave us grey paper and blue and white pastels (in addition to the black which we were to keep the extra of, but i didn't use), and the third day, she gave us brown paper and a red-brown pastel to add to the previous three colors.  i ate one of the apples after class.

edit:  dammit, i don't know why, but these last two are totally refusing to show up full size.  this is pissing me off, but i can't seem to do anything about it.

and!

drawings from my free time soon to follow.
