Oooh I just wrote a LONG post and it all got deleted! Well, I suppose I shall just write about it again then. lol le Diamondbacks Fan Fest was sooooooooooo incredibly awesome absolutely amazing (oooh, alliteration)!!!!!! And yes, I did indeed meet Thom Brennaman. Oh yes. lol but let's start from the top, shall we?
So my dad, being the wonderfully awesome dad that he is, woke up early with me this morning, I dressed up in my Diamondbacks fangirl finest, and we drove to Chase Field. When we got there I was all abuzz with Diamondbacks loooooooove and was freaking out like WHOA when we finally got to go inside Chase Field. lol it felt soooooooo good to be back there again, it just feels like home! The first thing we did was take the Clubhouse tour which, naturally, included MUCH fangirling and me almost crying when we walked into the Clubhouse. hahaha is that sad? Anyway, I definitely took a picture in front of/inside of Craig Counsell's locker and another one in front of Gonzo's locker with the World Series trophy. MAJOR WOOOT! The best part of the Clubhouse, though, is a chart which tells the players how to put on their uniforms. lol no joke, they have two charts with detailed instruction, it's great! haha and Shawn Green is the only player with a cup holder in his locker. lol I found that quite amusing and very interesting. After that display of awesomeness, my dad and I went to the team shop and bought a baseball for Craig Counsell, Eric Byrnes, and Chris Snyder to sign and a little case for it which took us FOREVER to figure out how to open later. haha but then came the best part of all...
My dad and I decided to go down to the Visitors' Dugout to hear the last part of the pitchers Question & Answer session so we could also get fantabulous seats for the "Meet the Broadcasters" Q & A, which we most certainly did. lol Front row and center for Tom Candiotti, Thom Brennaman, Greg Schulte, Matt Williams, and Jeff Munn, all of whom were UBER nice! WOOOOT! lol there was this adorable little boy who asked the cutest questions, like if Thom and Greg like radio or TV broadcasting better, and whether or not Greg "just loves the radio!" haha he was quite amusing. After a few questions, my dad asked the question I'd been wanting to ask, because I most certainly would not have been able to form coherent sentences or even words. lol so my dad asked the guys what they thought about the possibility of female broadcasters and if they see it happening anytime in the near future. Thom started out, saying that he is the #1 fan of female broadcasters in the Major Leagues because it's about time it happened. He also said that the Yankees have a female broadcaster who did many of their radio games last year, and the KTAR host, Dave Burns I believe it was, added that ESPN has a female broadcaster for football who has been calling some big games lately. Thom then said that it all simply comes down to practicing and basically getting experience and suggested that I start going to my high school baseball games and recording myself doing play-by-play there, which Greg and all the guys agreed with, and wished me luck. lol Matt Williams then said that Thom is right, and it's also important to work through the inevitable mistakes, such as one of his from last year. lol Thom asked him if his favorite player was Pete Rose, and Matt answered, ON AIR, "Pete Rose, you bet!" hahahaha oh snap peas, 'twas hilarious! And of course he mentioned Gracie's faux pas last year as another example of working through the mistakes. lol Greg Schulte asked if I'd gone to the play-by-play booth yet to record myself, and Matt Williams said I should just go lock myself in there and get started. haha he also said that he still doesn't know how to fill out a scorecard, which was hilarious, as well!
After the Q & A session with the broadcasters, my dad and I were heading up to the Craig Counsell, Eric Byrnes, and Chris Snyder autograph signing when we saw that people had stayed behind and were taking pictures with/getting autographs from the broadcasters, so, naturally, I ran down to meet Thommy! haha my dad asked if I could take a picture with Thom, and he of course said yes. lol I did my fangirl thing and told him he is one of my biggest rolemodels and shook his hand, and, this is where it REALLLLLLY gets good, he said, "You know, if you need any help with anything, or just want advice or something, definitely call me up this season on my extension and I'd be more than happy to help you!" lol and I was just like "...Thank you!!!" lol and he's like "Seriously, ANYTHING at all, I'd love to help! Good luck with everything, and do call!" And I thanked him again profusely and shall certainly have to take him up on that generous offer! lol so after I fangirled and squeed like whoa and my dad picked his jaw up off of the floor, we went to the Craig Counsell autograph signing, where I met, *le duh* Craig Counsell, Eric Byrnes, and Chris Snyder all of whom are HOT and were very nice, and I also got a picture with Craig Counsell! MORE WOOOOOT! lol then we took Greg Schulte's advice and went up to the radio booth and I did the play-by-play which was UBER fun and I have no doubt will be very, very amusing.
And thus concludes the adventures of Caroline at Diamondbacks Fan Fest 2006! I do believe one big WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! is in order. Oh snap peas, it ROCKED!!! haha pictures shall be coming soon! lyl all, au revoir! :-D
