latin_doll and I were chatting and the topic came up of whether Mal needs to eat on a day to day basis, or whether vampires just do it to be polite.

So. Do Discworld Vampires need to eat after they've taken the ribbon? And if so, would they have favourite foods? I can see Otto having such a sweet tooth and haunting pastry shops in the early mornings.

Hello! I am pointedly not doing my work right now, look at that!

Any thoughts on how the Polly/Maladict(a) relationship would be perceived by general readers if Mal hadn't been revealed as Maladicta? Both the occasional disappointment at Mal's reveal, and fairly common denial of Tonker and Lofty's relationship, make me wonder.

You could say I've become a bit more trans-aware in the past year or so (i.e. less trans-stupid), and re-reading old fic and rethinking old thoughts it occurs to me that maybe we should discuss MR from this point of view?

I kept forgetting to say, if you get a chance check out "Being Human", a BBC3 series about a vampire, werewolf and ghost that share a house in Bristol. It's a great look at the life of what is essentially a Black Ribboner (Mitchell) trying to stay off the stuff. Dramatic yet also funny.  If Tonker means "penis" and Shufti means "quick", what does Lofty mean? What about Wazzer?

Following on from the "Tonker" revelations.  Strange things come to mind when one is merely ticking over.

If a "shufti" is a quick look, i.e. to take a shufti at the enemy positions and try not to get shot at the same time, then how does that fit in with the character?  Is it a clever play on how a certain Johnny "took a shufti" and then moved on?

Er... I don't know if this has been chronicled...

But, eh... "Tonker" means, um, the, uh, male... anatomical part. I just heard that and I was like "OH MY GOD..." I never realized it, either. :/
