I did nothing of interest in October, unless you call work interesting. So instead of pictures . .
Student #1 @ Grade 3:
Me: So what are you gonna be for Halloween?
#1: A carrot!
Me: A carrot? You mean like this? *draws*
#1: No, this! *draws*
Me: Oh, you mean a pirate.
#1: Parrot?
Me: Piiiii-rate.
#1: Paaa-rot.
My Boss and Student #2 @ Grade 8:
Boss: [Student #2], if you really want to improve your English, you should read more books. Can you think of any good books for [Student #2] to read?
Me: Hmm . . well, there's one book I'd recommend that's really popular, everyone likes it and it's around your reading level.
Boss: The Bible?
Me: o___O No, I was actually thinking of Harry Potter.
Boss: Oh nonono, I don't like that. Too much mystical stuff. Don't read that.
(* Please note I work across from the biggest Christian bookstore in town so I'm a bit of a fish outta water in this area :P )
Student #3 @ Grade 6
Me: So can you think of something you do every day?
#3: Umm, I use hair gel every day.
o_O
Student #4 @ Grade 4
#4: I saw Snakes on a Plane, it was really scary!
Me: Really? Most people I've talked to said it was funny.
#4: Scary Movie 4 was even scarier!!
Me: Err . .
#4: Have you seen any scary movies?
Me: Well, I thought Se7en was pretty scary. My Big Fat Greek Wedding was also scary in another way.
#4: No, what's the scariest movie EVER?!!
Me: Um, I dunno, I don't watch a lot of scary movies. But I recommend you go see SAW III this weekend.
#4: Saw?
Me: Yes. S-A-W. Let me know what you think about it next week, ok?
#4: OK.
Yeah, I'm an irresponsible teacher, but he asks me about scary movies every single class!
In other news, I finally caught up on my f-list, and for those who don't follow the
brad, he's posted an amusing story about his encounter with Frank the Goat in Moscow
here (with pictures in the comments because I originally thought he made it up ;) ).
Speaking of which, I actually spoke to Brad on LJ Talk a few weeks ago, and he's really passionate about LJ Talk and Open Source. I was telling him about how barely anyone uses LJ Talk and he started going on and on about how great it was because it's open-source and better than the corporate stuff and how I should convince you guys using points like these. ^_^
So with the owner's blessings, I'm gonna give it one last try. Here's my goal: I have 37 on my f-list, and I'm gonna get by gawd all 37 using LJ Talk! Even though at least 3 don't even use LJ anymore! XD All I'm going to do is add a "LJ Talk Ticker" to the end of all my posts from now till the goal is reached (or till I get tired of it, whichever comes first :P ). Whenever I confirm another person has used it, even just once, the number goes up. If I'm off-line, just message my ID with a "hello" or something and that'll count too. So here we go!
LJ Talk F-List Ticker: 3 out of 37
