30 feet from Vanessa Hudgens

Last week, Vanessa Hudgens came to Vancouver's PNE fair to sing. Since then, I've been trying to understand what compelled me to go see her on a painfully rainy day, especially since I still haven't seen High School Musical and I don't even know how to pronounce her last name. "I'm going to see Vanessa this weekend!" "Vanessa who?" "Vanessa . . . umm . . Vanessa!"

Here's the conclusion I reached:
1. The concert was free minus the $12 fair admittance. TWELVE DOLLARS!! That's even cheaper than most bowling alleys!
2. Because it was outdoor, cameras were allowed.
3. It made me feel "hip" being there. Now I can tell my students, "I saw your idol! Yes, I am awesome!" :P
4. She's cute. ^_^;
5. I love concerts!

"I shop for back-up dancers at Street Corner Depot!"

Mm, spray can smellz good.

As the night wore on, her skin color wore off.

Those were the few pictures that made it out of my camera alive. I had found the perfect spot beside the walkway to watch the concert from, but it turned out the PNE had zero crowd control so even the walkway started filling up and baby carriages and the elderly were being shoved over. It soon became a sea of kids, many of which couldn't see anything over their giant parents. I could barely see, especially when the dads started putting their kids on their shoulders, so I took most of my pics by just lifting my camera high up and hoping for the best. ;)

Anyway, even though most of Vanessa's songs didn't really click with me, it was still an alright concert and Vanessa seems like a nice kid (though local reports state otherwise).

I also got to see The Peking Acrobat show, which was spectacular as always.

Anyone wanna try this at home with me?

I also took part in News Idol!: http://newsidol.pne.ctv.ca/mediadetail/316407

While it won't win awards, I thought I was at least more lively than most news anchors, as well as the person currently ranked #1 in the contest: http://newsidol.pne.ctv.ca/mediadetail/316407 (how is she getting more "votes" than her "views"?? :P )

Belated ticker: Man, I had so much to say and so many Jackie Chan jokes to crack about The Olympics but it already seems so yesterday. But really, the only sport I made sure to catch everyday was diving, which I thought was cooler than anything else I saw.

And here's an interesting article about a name that caught my eye at the games, "Hannah Miley": http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/080811-083625

Poll ticker: I tried adding this poll to yesterday's but it wouldn't let me. Basically, I'm about to order a new pair of glasses, but I'm having a tough time choosing between these two frames:

I know nothing about fashion trends, style, material, etc., so I would love a few second opinions.
