Time for Good Commercial, Bad Commercial
Bad Commercial:
This is one of the worst commercials I've ever seen. I saw it on an American channel the other day and . . .
. . IT JUST WOULDN'T STOP! Whose bright idea was it to make it mandatory for medicine commercials to read out the entire warning label??! It's so stupid how they make all these happy filler moments during the warning label voiceover, and the narrator usually reads so fast that no one will understand it, defeating the purpose!!!
Up here in Canada, one of my all-time favorite commercials is our Viagra one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFGpI8bfep0 It's a classic, won a bunch of awards, but it couldn't have been made if we had the same "here let me narrate the warning for you" law. Instead, we just display a simple, "Ask your doctor." I mean it's common sense, and I'm sure your doctor doesn't talk like the micro machines man either.
In other bad commercials, I have never seen anyone who reads the cue cards as obviously as Kelly Ripa does in her new Tide commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfEMW0sXwiw
Good commercial:
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with sumo. I wrote about sumos in all my stories, I drew sumos in my comics, and I rallied my teacher to include sumo wrestling in the PE curriculum (no go). So of course, I *LOVE* the new Subaru commercial in Canada with car washing sumo wrestlers. It's like something I would've made!
Sexiest car wash ever!! XD
But even better, you can go to Subaru Canada's website and do your own SUMO PHOTOSHOOT!!! @ http://www.sexysubaru.ca It's like I'm living a childhood dream. THIS IS THE BEST MARKETING CAMPAIGN OF ALL TIME!! (Even though I don't exactly know how this ad is supposed to sell cars, but oh well.)
