could we really live a life free from our possessions and our need to buy everything in sight in attempts to make our lives better?
could we live a life thats free and not driven by advertisments and products that will 'make u prettier' or whatever
our world is so materialistic sometimes it makes me sick
we are so consumed by the latest trend and our desperate need to be 'cool' (and whoever decided what was cool or not.. it drives me crazy) that we forget how lucky we are that we're not working in sweats shops or living in nothing
did u know that more than like half the worlds population lives on 2 dollars day----- could you do that?
i know i will..and i think you should to.. examine ur lives and think 'do i really need that?' or 'is that new shirt really gonna make my life so much better' or even 'am i really willing to throw myself at that boy or denounce something i truly believe in just so i can be cool'
i really cant stand how superficial people can be or how consumed they are with petty problems that they fail to see the bigger picture... im not saying i dont do the same thing... cause a lot of the time i do.... just some people are so ignorant that they dont even know they're being this way
im not trying to preach and tell you that ur a bad person for being this way.. cause if that were true than the entire world is going to satan (which would be absolutly obsured)...i just finished reading a book thats made me think... like about how i dont really NEED the things society tells me i need.. like the new coach bag.. or blonde hair or a really hot boyfriend.... dont get me wrong... these things can be really killer but i feel sometimes we could be a lot happier if we're not always trying to get something we feel we need or else we'll be dubbed as uncool or incomplete... i really wonder sometimes how ppl would really dress or how ppl would really act if there wasn't the media telling us that celebrities are doing it so we should---- if there wasn't a commercial with really pretty girls wearing for example old navy's new sweaters.. would you really buy them? and sometimes it can be subconcious and not that we're knowingly saying to ourselves 'julia roberts wore this i should too!'--- the media was brain washed us
i act this way to.. and its not like you do this so you are the worst person in the world.... i just think its kinda ridiculous sometimes.... but its the world we live in.. and to be honest- i love it sometimes but then again hate it-- its complicated.. u know?
