Wow! Its nearly all over!
This is our last day in Barcelona and then we´re back in London at midday tomorrow. Its surreal enough thinking about going back to London, let alone Australia! Don´t worry, I am looking forward to it. I´m also very freaked out about it! I´m sure you can imagine the feeling of going back to what your life once was, what seems like forever ago. I´m excited, scared, apprehensive, nervous, happy and sometimes butterflies in the stomach about it. Hopefully everything is as good as it was when I left so theres no bad feelings.
I´m also sad about leaving the London gang behind. Particularly Joao Mario. We had a hard earned friendship and he´s one of those people that makes your life a little bit different and a little bit better, so I´m really not happy about having to say goodbye to him for such a long time. And then theres Angela, Stephan, James, and newly found Chris (another person who could be a great pal if only there was more time) - so its all very poo. And Maja! How could I forget Maja who was crazy enough to let us stay at her place for almost a month and whose oven door doesn´t open for pizza making!
Well, it sucks dammit. I can´t be too unhappy about it all though cos I soon get to see all the other cool people that I´ve been missing for the last couple of years, plus one of the Snappers has come all the way to Sydney to make me feel a bit more at ease about it all.
OKAY! Thats enough of that! I just can´t think about anything else at the moment so I´m having problems writing about anything else!
Soooo... Barcelona... Its pretty hot and sunny here, and unfortunately I´m not brave enough to swim in the beaches as they´re a little to filthy for my likings. We´ve had some yummy food and some instances where food seemed completely impossible to find and I had to be dragged around the streets of La Ribera moaning with hunger and frustration. We´ve also found our favourite bar in the world where the drinks are cheap, strong and good tasting and the lovely ladies who run the place give us lots of free olives and chocolate and sometimes a free shot of our choice at the end of the night. I wish it was possible to transport all the good things about Europe to Australia!
We´ve basically been massive lazy asses in our time here, just trying to soak up the unemployedness while it lasts. We haven´t been doing a whole lot of specific touristy stuff, just wondering the streets and trying out the various bakeries and drinking holes. We even wondered down to the clubs on the beach that the guys told us about and, low and behold, a group of Contiki peoples disembarked from their bus as we arrived! You crazy Contiki friends of mine! Its okay, you´re allowed to get your party on when you´re travelling Europe with a stack of other 20 somethings!
We´ve seen alot of Gaudi buildings and Jesse has expressed his wishes to pee all over them quite alot. We climbed up half a hill and went to the history museum which is actually one of the best I´ve seen (if you only want to see the history of the place that you´re in that is, and not the entire history of the world).
Okay! I´m sure you´re all bored to tears, beating your heads against your computer monitors begging for it to STOP! JUST STOP DAMN YOU!!
So I´ll leave it there. I might be in touch again when I´m in London but, if not, I´ll see you all soon (and those that I won´t see, I´ll miss and try to keep in touch with)! xxoo
