Relationships: An Analysis

It seem as though the underlying idea behind a long term relationship is pretty much depressing.

A long term relationship is essentially you "settling" on a person and ending your search. You talk to a girl you've never met before, or talk to a girl that you already know, and you think to yourself, "Wow. This girl is really cool/hot/sweet." There is usually a strong energy behind your feelings, and sometimes it's overwhelming. When you are around that person for a long time though, the energy seems to "fade", if you will. It's not that you're not interested in that person anymore, but your reward centers are quite used to the thing that makes you happy being around.

This is in no way saying I'm not happy with my relationship; I am. I'm just saying that the entire process behind courtship sorta... sucks. You end up being like, "This person is cool. I like/love them a lot. I think I'll stop looking now."

Relationships are great though. I'm not really complaining. There is a lot of trial and error involved though... You could end up losing 9 months... two years... four years of your life on one person though...

I mean, sure, you learn a lot from that relationship, but you will always end up thinking that maybe you could have been with somebody "better" than the person you broke up with.

Oh well. I've been wanting to post some of my psychological wanderings on here for a while, but I always forget my verbiage before I get to a computer. Now just seemed to be a good time lol.

Megan gets back in town Tuesday... I hope I'm free.
