The 13 D's and Me

May 26, 2009 16:30

I've finally gotten around to my 13 dimensions mini-essays, in which I attempt to brainstorm at least two stories from my life so far that exemplify each of the 13 D's, with as little overlap as possible. It's going okay, I guess. Some of the D's I had so many stories for the challenge was to pick out the best ones. Cultural Adaptability, for example. Piece of cake. I also came up with a surprising number of options for Initiative and Leadership; I don't tend to do a lot of leading, but apparently I have initiative in spades. Other dimensions are tougher. I've only got one story each so far for Resourcefulness, Planning and Organizing, and Objectivity and Integrity. The ones I'm seriously stuck on, that I haven't thought of a single narrative for, are Judgment and Working With Others. The WWO subquestions in my practice materials are all about dealing with difficult bosses or coworkers, which isn't really something I've really had to do yet. And I'd like to think that I make good decisions, but really the only time I ever think about the quality of my judgment is right after I've done something very, very stupid. Those are not stories I want to tell the examiners. Today marks one month and counting. I guess one good decision I've made lately is to start prepping for this exam early.
