Above is the trailer for Julie & Julia, which I am of course dying to see. It looks like Meryl Streep will pull off Julia Child well enough, which is the key to the whole movie. But it made me think about how it must feel for Julie, and everyone who's been lucky enough to see their story put on film, to have their life acted out by someone famous. To have someone get paid multimillions of dollars to be them, or at least the drastically simplified and perhaps slightly tweaked version of them the screenwriters have in mind. I wonder if they get a say. If a movie were ever made about me, which it won't be, I would want to be played by Scarlett Johansson. She has that thoughtful brainy vibe in addition to being drop-dead gorgeous. Rachel Weisz would do me credit. I would also accept Natalie Portman.
