Today I got my very first grad school A. I had thought I would never ever see one again, except accompanied by the inevitable minus sign, but I was wrong. See, the rule about As for written work at SAIS is that a paper must be of publishable quality to earn one. This seems to be beyond my capacity. However, I seem to be qualified to write two-page memos on the war on terror for the State Department, as that was the assignment. I guess that internship last summer was good for something. Anyway, this looks to me like more confirmation that bureaucracy and I are made for each other.
