Nanao stood from her desk at the sense of a strong, dense reiatsu closing in on the Eighth's compound. She felt almost too aware of everything, could not help opening herself to every tiny ebb and nuance that might herald more news, or at least an exhausted search party returning at the end of their shift.
Going to the door, she opened it to see the young captain of the Fifth coming up the steps to the engawa. "Captain Abarai." She gave a smart, polite nod, but gestured for him to enter without preamble. "Thank you for coming so promptly. We have much to discuss, I'm afraid, and not enough to do right now."
She indicated her desk, the neat chaos of papers all over it, and the chair she had drawn up to it. "Please sit. I've begun a map of areas we have already canvassed, and like everyone, we are interviewing those of our men who were absent without witnesses at the time of the attack. I'm only afraid we may run out of time before we finish with the interviews."
